4.2.1 Checklist for planning a record
Student Book
  pp 120–29
It is important to get the planning stage of your record creation just right. You will need to
be very clear about what you want to record and how you will do it. Working individually
or in a small group you must:

 find a range of records that you like or that have inspired you

                     - Music Video (Michael Jackson - Thriller)

                     - Documentary (An Islamic History of Europe)

                     - Short films (Animation – Short animation alarm)

                     - Silent Short Film (“The Waiting – black & white”)

                     - Radio Clip (Max Chocolate)

 think about how these records were created

The first 4 of these records were created using a video recorder but
different ones in different times. The radio clip – Max Chocolate
was probably recorded on to a CD and played in radio stations, it was
made with some sort of voice recorder in a studio.

 think about how you could create your own record

I can create my own record by using a video recorder as everyone
will be making a music video in groups of 3-4 people.

 think of suitable ideas for your record

We have chosen the song Niraj Chag – Ur jaa. The storyline we have
come up with is that there is a girl the wants to leave home but her
mother doesn’t let her. We see the girl meeting up with her friend in
the park and talk to her about everything. Towards the end of the
video it’s going to be her wedding day and her mother doesn’t come
to it and she is sitting in her dressing room getting ready. Then there
is a split screen for the last scene of the girl crying and her mother
                                                         crying too.

 choose one idea to develop further.

You should produce an illustrated report on your investigations into records, how these
have influenced your ideas and what you are going to produce. Your illustrated report
could be produced as a presentation using PowerPoint, a written report with illustrations, a
video or audio programme or a website.
