The document summarizes how the author developed their horror media product by analyzing conventions from real horror films, trailers, posters, and magazines. They watched films like I Am Legend and 28 Days Later to get ideas for creating a realistic, isolated atmosphere. They created a teaser with only one character to connect with audiences. Drawing from trailers, they used establishing shots, voiceovers, lighting, and editing. The poster shows the protagonist and what lies ahead. For the magazine cover, they analyzed Empire and Gamesmaster covers to include large bold text, enlarged main character, and colors to attract audiences.
1. Media Horror Trailer In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media texts?
2. Before production of my Horror teaser I decided to have a movie night. This enabled me to view a variety of horrors and also see the most reactions out of the audiences and see what horror scared them the most. By doing this I was able to gather a lot of information which enabled me to decide which genre of horror I would like to create. We watched films such as I am Legend (Featuring Will; Smith), 28 days later and REC 2 I also watched an action adventure film called the Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington which is about a man on a journey on his own to return I book and .etc., from those films I got the idea that I would like to create a for realistic type of film, I also got the idea from I am legend and 28 days later that I would want to make a film set in where there isn't anyone else around and give off the atmosphere of isolation . This makes the audiences feel vulnerable and alone whilst watching it and this is the effect I wanted them to have while watching my trailer and the future I found that generally women and teens were the victims, or the characters that ended up dead, so what I did was instead of I introducing a lot of characters in the teaser I wanted to give the audiences one character so that they can relate to and feel sorry for and follow him on his journey to for survival and also looking for survivors . What I also found out was that mostly in conventions of a horror most of the horrific scenes are shot at night which sets the mood as dark and eerie , in most trailers we are always shown a victim being killed by an antagonist or supenatuallly. I wanted to break away from some of these conventions because I wanted an original idea and feel to my trailer and do something different.
3. I looked at different social pages such as YouTube which I used as a source to find different types of horrors and identify the conventions of a horror. I looked at different horror trailers like mine and saw that they all started with an establishing shot of the area they are in ad shows the nothing ness around them and this is what I wanted to do focus on in my teaser, how lonely our protagonist is. I noticed that when making a teaser about being lonely a lot of voice overs are used and also I noticed that lighting was a key feature and quick editing so in some scenes I used a lot of quick editing and cuts and shot in dark places to show how dark my piece is. I shot a scene in black and white to break off from the linear ness of trailer and I wanted to explore with different techniques using colour and camera angles. Only the Protagonist can be seen in the trailer because I wanted the audience to connect with him and wonder why he is here alone. I looked at a lot of different trailers and took inspiration from them to create the best music for my trailer, that’s why I went for a ticking sound because it is sinister and fits in with the story of my trailer.

5. Poster For my Film Poster I took ideas from different poster such as TV show the walking dead, Rec 2 and I am Legend and by doing this I wanted to create an original idea for a poster. This is how I created the poster and looked at the different conventions I saw that in most poster s they always show the protagonist and what lies ahead of him, that’s why I made my poster half the protagonist and half zombie because I wanted the audiences to know what lies ahead for my hero and its only if they watch the film is where they will no if he survives or not. Id didn’t show any villains in my trailer because I wanted to show bit by bit of the story in different form just so that the audiences will have to work t find out about the film
6. For the development of the magazine front cover I looked at other Known Magazines such as Empire and Gamemaster and analyzed them, the reason why I used a games magazine was because I wanted to the similarities and differences it has with a Movie magazine, once I had a look I aw that they weren't that different . The similarities between the Front covers were that The text were both big and bold, Also the main character on the cover was always in front of the text and was enlarged to notify the readers that this is what this issue of the magazine was about. The Empire text is red and so is the text underneath Brad Pitt. This colour is the colour of blood and which suggests the film will be bloody and gory. The 11 in Fifa11 is also red which coincides with the colour of Wayne Rooney's kit which is also red. Both Magazines use colour to Bring in Audiences and gain their interests Such as Empire uses the colour Grey to highlight important information and is always in Capitals. GM uses the colour black and also blue to attract readers to more important information and that would gain their interest. Both Magazines boast themselves, such as Empire says that’s its ‘The Worlds Biggest Movie magazine where as GM says that it’s the ‘NO1 for Games and consoles. The differences in the Magazine are that on empire its Barcode is found on the far right of the magazine and gamesmaster is on the bottom which is a Known place for Barcodes on a magazine. Also Empire’s Price is found on the bottom of the title whereas GM;S is found Beside the title
8. By Analyszing the Front covers I was able to cary out the same kind of competence that the magazines had. I made my font big and bold because i wanted to catch the attention of the audeinces. It would also make it stand out if I had used a variety of colours
