The Economist is a weekly newspaper that has been publishing since 1843. It reported a circulation of over 1.6 million copies per issue in 2009 and claims sales in more than 200 countries. In 2009, it launched its first cinema advertising campaign in eight years called "Red Wires" to tap into the intellectually curious in the UK and connect better with non-readers. The ad was created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and directed by Tom Carty, featuring specially composed background music. It depicts a man high wire walking between buildings using red wires, representing the thoughts and ideas inspired by reading The Economist.
