 FOREST FIRES IN RUSSIA
          (2010)
In 2010, from late July to mid-August, there
was a serie of forest fires in Russia. It was
caused due to the high temperatures (the
hottest summer ever registered there) and
                 the drought.
That summer, temperatures reached 35ºC,
which is anomalous for this country, because
normally, the higher ones are about 30ºC.
Some days later, at several regions there was
a temperature between 38-40ºC. Then, those
ones were increasingly reaching the west part
of Russia.
On 11th July, the record ever recognized
happened: temperatures reached 44ºC.
7 regions were in a state of emergency
because of the fire, while 28 other regions
were also like that because of bad harvests.
520 fires affected 188,500 hectares. There
were around 150 people died and a lot of
injures ones.
It’s stimated that the fire has cost about 15
billion dollars in damages.
28 fires affected 269 hectares and smoke from
fires stretched along 3,000 kilometers in
Russia. Global warming has also been
ocasioned because of the polluted air.
It’s estimated that the fire has cost about 15
billion dollars in damages.
