The last 100 days of being your CTO has been intense! The velocity of change and decision making has been over the top of any measurement that has come before. It's been about listening and developing an appreciation for the needs of customers, maintaining a dialog around expectations, and promoting solutions and services that translate to customer value. This information I am about to share with you are the cornerstones that I believe are important for the City to move forward with what matters most! And, it's a good thing! An organization’s Information Technology and Services group is the core provider of technical information and services that serve as a transformation agent for the City’s business. As such, BTS plays an important role in the design and implementation of various technology related solutions and services to its bureau customers, citizens and external partners. However, the true business value—is not always transparent or understood, especially in an atmosphere of budget cutting. I believe organizations need to invest in technology during times of downsizing because technology is a true force multiplier and enables bureaus to work smarter when other resources are being reduced. Welcome to all of you who are attending today’s Bureau of Technology Services All Hands Meeting. We are fortunate to have both BTS staff and Bureau representatives here today!
