Devotional Response to Scripture
Jeremiah 29:11-13
11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come
and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek
me with all your heart.
I have bad days all the time, but these verses help me get through them. First off,
to think our God has plans for us is an amazing thought! Second, he specifies what kind
of plans he has for us: plans to prosper, give you hope and a future. Third, he says when
we call on him he will listen to us, and if we seek him, we will find him.
God has plans for us, I’m sure we have all heard this before, but to think he took
enough time for each and every one of us to make special personal plans for us is mind
blowing! Just think how amazingly thorough that is, to give every single person who’s
walked on this earth his or her own special plan. It is hard to imagine.
Then not only does God have plans for us, he made plans for us to prosper, to
give us hope and a future. Who doesn’t want to prosper, have hope or a future? Our God
is good to us by giving us these things. During bad days, it is always helpful to have
hope. Hope is very important; it can help us to keep running the race.

Lastly, he says if we call to him, he will listen. I know for a fact that sometimes I
need a good friend to listen to me, so that I can get say something that has been bothering
me. A friend can’t always be there to listen to me, and I understand that, but you know
there is someone I know who is always there for me. This verse says if we call to him, he
will listen. It doesn’t matter the time, place or anything. He is always waiting for us to
confide in him.
These verses give me hope when I am having a bad day. It let’s me know that
God has a plan for me, even when I don’t know what the future holds for me I know that
God created this plan for me. In his plan, he will keep giving me hope, he will make me
prosper, and he has a good future for me. These verses also reassure me that God is
always here for me, wanting me to confide in him about anything and will always listen
to me when ever I need it.
