Tsingshua University Library was
established in 1912. As one of the
earliest university libraries in China, it
strives to become a research, digitized,
open and modern university library, to
keep pace with the university's
progressing towards a world-class
university. The total physical collections
have been over 4.0 million item/volumes,
full-text e-journals in Chinese and foreign
languages are over 57,000 and e-books
are more than 2.39 million by end of
2010. The library offers a round the clock
service.
Challenge
Due to the library’s rapid expansion on its
collection, librarians’ workload on
managing books such as sorting,
shelving, and stocktaking have increased
exponentially, The library needs a state
of the art solution to improve operational
efficiency and at the same time cater to
the large number of visitors.
Solution
In order to manage book collection and
work flows, Invengo Smart Trolley was
introduced to help librarians perform
searching, inventory, shelving, sorting,
weeding and exception-finding at one
location with maximum comfort. Instead
of performing different tasks at different
time , the smart trolley is able to allow
librarians to perform various tasks at one
time. The self Check in/out Station
provides self-service loan, return,
renewal, loan inquiries services to
simplify the loaning and returning
process, lowering the burden on staff and
increasing the level of overall customer
service and experience.
Result
After intensive project consultation and
solution design, Tsingshua University
Library started to implement Invengo’s
RFID Library Management System in
December 2011. The System went
operational since February 2012 and up
to today the system has been running
smoothly in the last two years. The library
has achieved intelligent management of
its collections, improved operational
efficiency and greater customer
satisfaction.

Zhe Jiang Library was established in
Hang Zhou in 1900. It is one of China’s
longest history libraries. It is the
collection and service center of literature
information in Zhejiang Province,
performing local collection and service
functions. The Library has possessed
more than 5 million volumes of library
materials and super-mass digitized
information resources, including all kinds
of paper-media.
Challenge
Zhe Jiang library opens everyday in a
year and provides 24 hour service for
internet users. On average, it receives
5000 visitors on a weekday and 8000
visitors on a weekend. In order to cater
the needs of such a large visitor group
daily, the library requests a RFID solution
that enables self service to extend
opening hours and provide additional
services to visitors without investing in
headcount.
Solution
Invengo’s solution focuses on expediting
the large volume of book loaning and
returning activities. Three key products
are introduced: Self Check in/out Station,
24/7 Self-service library and GPS-enable
book location system. Self Check in/out
Station enables patrons to loan and
return library items at their wish and free
library staff from manually carrying such
time consuming activities. The 24/7 Self-
service libraries extend the library hours
and automate the shelving and loaning
activity without human intervention.
The GPS-enabled book location system
identifies the exact location of the book
and reduces the patron’s time spent on
searching the book.
Result
Zhe Jiang Library launched Invengo’s
new RFID Library Management System
in September 2009 and upgraded the
system subsequently in 2011 and 2012
with more tags and machines for
expanded library capacity. The
implementation of the System not only
streamlined the workflow of the library
operations, but also attracted more
visitors to the library. With the RFID
system in place, Zhe Jiang library is able
to scale its capacity fast and at efficiently.
