Extremadura is an autonomous community located in southwest Spain consisting of Cáceres and Badajoz provinces. It has a Mediterranean climate except in the north which is continental and west which is milder due to Atlantic influence. Some common festivities include Chíviri, Encamisá, and Jarramplas. The Canary Islands are an archipelago of seven islands located off the coast of North Africa with a subtropical oceanic climate and scarce vegetation including palm trees, cacti, and sabinas. The Balearic Islands are in the Mediterranean Sea near Spain and have a Mediterranean climate with some endemic plants and animals such as the curruca cabecinegra bird.

4. INTRODUCTION
Extremadura is an autonomous community located the southwest of Spain. It
is made up of two provincies: Cáceres and Badajoz. Its borders are
Castillan and Leon(in the north), Castilla-La Mancha(west) and
Andalucía(south). Its capital is Merida.
The population of Extremadura is 1,104,004 (in 2013).

5. CLIMATE
Extremadura 's climate is Mediterranean , except in the
north , where it is continental, and in the west, where
the influence of the Atlantic makes the climate milder .
In general, it is characterized by very hot and dry
summers with little rainfall during the summer and with
long and mild winters because of the influence of the
proximity to the Portuguese Atlantic coast.
7. CÁCERES
It is situated in the top of the province (Extremadura), it population is
95,855.
It is the SPANISH CAPITAL OF THE GASTRONOMY in 2015.
The old town was declararded World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1986.
In Caceres is a continental weather. About the fauna, Cáceres has a big
amount of different species of birds, and every year is celebrated
the Festival of the Birds in Cáceres.
8. BADAJOZ
It is the capital of Extremadura, it was fundaded in the IX century.
It´s population is 150,517.
The weather in Badajoz is cold in winter and so hot in summer,sometimes
in summer exceeds 40 degrees. The the rainiest months are
November and December.

15. The Balearic Islands are situated in the mediterranean sea near the
Peninsula Ibérica.
The archipielago is formed by two groups of islands and illotes:the
Gimnesias (Mallorca, Menorca, Cabrera and some illotes Dragonera,
Conejera o la Isla del Aire) and the Pitiusas (Ibiza ,Formentera,
withb some illotes like Espalmador and Espardell).

The weather of the balearic islands is similar to the Valencian climate.
There is a mediterranean weather with some humidity, there are few
snowfalls, and if there are, they happen in the top of the mountains.
The hottest month is July and the coldest is January.

VEGETATION: actually in the balearic islands there are some plants
like: Apium bermejoi, Euphorbia fontqueriana, Euphorbia
margalidiana.
ANIMALS: in the balearic islands there are some birds as the curruca
cabecinegra, or the albejaruca. There are also frogs like the sapillo
balear, and ducks, butterflies,ginetas, hedgehog…
