Megan Durham conducted a questionnaire of 20 people to determine what type of music magazine would be most popular. 10 males and 10 females between the ages of 15 and 26+ were surveyed. The majority, 18 people, said they listen to music with pop being the most preferred genre. Most respondents, 15 people, said they buy magazines, preferring weekly issues, and would pay between £1-£2. Key factors attracting buyers included the front cover main image, color scheme, and stories advertised. Therefore, the magazine created will be a weekly, £1-2 pop music publication emphasizing these elements.

When carrying out my questionnaire I thought to find out the best accurate results I
would ask an even amount of males as females. Altogether I asked 20 people 10 being
male and 10 being female.

18 people said they do listen to music and only 2 said they don’t. This shows that a
music magazine would be popular as it’s a very popular topic.

It is clear from my results that the most popular genre of music is Pop, so I am going to do
my magazine based on this genre as I think it will sell best as it interests the majority.

Magazines which are released weekly are most popular so I am going to create a
magazine which would come out every week as it is proven to be the best selling.

The majority of people said they would pay between £1 and £2 for a magazine but 6 said
they would pay under £1, therefore I am going to keep closer to £1 than £2 so that it
appeals to a larger audience.

Most people answered yes to my question about the main image attracting them to the
magazine. I am going to make sure that my main image is suitable for my magazine as
this will work as a main selling point.

10. Does the colour scheme attract you to the magazine?

It is clear that the colour scheme of a magazine is important to the audience as it
attracts them to buying the magazine, I will consider this when making my magazine so
that it looks professional and will catch peoples attention.

11. Do the stories on the front cover encourage you to buy
the magazine?

The stories which are featured on the front page interest people into the rest of the
magazine therefor they are more likely to buy it. When making my magazine I will include
stories which will make the reader want to go on and find out more.
