According to the Edison report, there are 256 million users on TV, 243 million on radio, 177 million
connected via Wi-Fi and 139 million via smart phones.
For success, you need to distribute content across all these platforms. But you need to adopt a
different content marketing strategy for each of the platforms.
Content Marketing
Content marketing is very important for successful digital marketing. Content marketing is quite
different from copywriting. It is also different from writing ad copy. Content marketing is creating
informative content that can be shared online and also on social sites to educate visitors about a
product or a service, its features, its USP and also direct visitors to the right place where they can
make a purchase. Good content marketing should also cater to the standards of SEO (Search Engine
Optimization) and SMO (Social Media Optimization). In digital marketing, content marketing is even
more important than advertising.
Smart Phone Users Need Special Attention
According to Nielsen, almost half (49.7%) of US mobile subscribers own a smart phone, as of
February 2012. A report by eMarketer shows a mobile-friendly website increases the chance of
buying by 67%. The same report also states a shift from desktop to smart phones in content
consumption and commerce. This is proof enough to show that marketers need to adapt a mobilefirst strategy. To optimize sales, your website must be mobile-friendly.
