Observing the results of our flexible working survey over 5 years provide us a better understanding about how much our businesses have changed and adapted to workplace trends. This is really a major finding. The graph above provides an overview about how mobile working, home working and static office work has evolved from 2002 to 2006, the latest annual survey results. Compared to 2002, the percentage of time a flexible worker spend in the office has reduce from 55% to 18%. I think is incredible and I don’t know whether you believe it or not. But I certainly think it reflects my pattern of work. The time we spend away from our office is then subdivided as homeworking and working on the move (in your car, at a hotel, on a client’s site…). Mobile working has shifted from 25% in 2002 to 46% in 2006. Once again a major change in the way we work. Homeworking on the other hand has grow less significantly from 20% in 2002 to 36% in 2006 and clearly now stabilising around this latest percentage. What we are seeing is much flexible working is changing our business, but most importantly that Flexible working is now the NORM!. I completely agree with this.
