The document discusses several ways in which the reporting of news can impact or alter the truth. It notes that news sources are how most people get information and form perspectives, so the truth is important. However, news can relate the truth in a biased way by only reporting information that supports a certain viewpoint. Additionally, editing techniques can manipulate the truth by altering quotes or selectively showing only parts of an event that portray people or situations in a particular light rather than showing the full context. A news report is used as an example of how editing a video to only show the most extreme reactions could falsely imply that an entire group holds only the most radical views rather than a range of perspectives.
2. Why is the notation of ‘truth’ so important?
This is important because of the fact that this is the main way that people received
the information, and the fact that they will not know what is happening or have any
perspective on the matter means that the truth is extremely important as this can
blur people's perspective on the matter, they can be easily mislead by lies and
false reporting due to this.
3. How does the news relate to the truth?
News relates to the truth because it’s something that people rely on for their information and the will
believe from respectable news sources that have a good credibility, such as Sky news and BBC. This
means that people are more likely to believe these news more than other sources such as Facebook,
Twitter etc. This is because of the credibility that these news companies have built up over the years
which has made them seem more reliable and ‘trustworthy’ meaning people are more likely to believe
them.
4. How can truth be altered due to editing?
There are many techniques that these news companies can used to try and
manipulate people into thinking that something is something than to what it actual
is, for example they can change the end of someone telling a joke that was funny,
but with editing they made it look like it wasn't when it really was, altering the truth.
This is to used to try and make someone seem worse or better than they might be
depending on how the media portrays them.

6. News report
Here this shows a black woman walking through a load of people who are protesting about Black and
migrants that are in the county who aren't white. However the way they show this is people ignoring her
when she approaches them, making it seem like they cannot acknowledge her because she is black, and
when they do speak they tend to have similarities with the Nazi party. This could make the viewer think
that these people are more racist than they actually due to the fact that they have shown people like this.
This could make think that all people like this are 100% hate and against black and migrant people,
whereas they could have less strong views on the matter compared to the people that they interviewed.
But the video through editing has been tailored to make people think that all racists are extreme, which is
not always the case. As much is I disagree with the people in the video and the protesters when I first
watched the video is made me more ‘stereotypical’ however that not everyone is going to share the same
views and the video aim is to make people think that they are all the same.
7. Do any issues on the glossary exist in the news report.
Yes, this could be misleading to the viewers giving the impression that everyone
has the same views when it comes to regarding racism and that everyone will
react in the sames way, when that is not necessary that way. It also uses negative
representation to show these people for who they are, this mean that it can often
be a negative light shown due to their beliefs and what they think is right
