2. NME
The main image takes up half of the page like
most magazine double page spread and this
tells you who the articles is about and also will
grab the readers attention due to the size. It is
also a mid shot which gives the image depth
and again draws you into the article.
The title for the page is a pull quote
from the main article to get the
readers hooked so they read on and
also again grab attention. Some of
the words used like “orgies” are
larger than others and are in different
shades of colour to make them stand
out. It also suggests that it should be
interesting to read and have some
exclusive stories into the article.
There is also a small version of the NME
masthead next to the page number in the
bottom right hand corner to remind the reader
of the magazine and house style.
The main article has been divided
into four columns to break it up
and make it easier to read as well as
give it a more organised feel to the
page.
3. Billboard
The main image of Nicki Minaj shows
her wearing pink lipstick that is the
same colour as the background of the
double page spread this may have
been done so that the reader can be
drawn in and make the link. She is also
wearing a black and white top which
contrasts the background and links
with the text written in the article. It
also takes up the majority of the page
so that it is eye catching.
The text or interview on the
double page spread hasn’t been
put into uniform columns instead
revolves around the main image
so you can read it in sections and
each one has a different sub
heading in bold writing.
There is a pull quote that may help the
reader get interested in the
article/story.
There isn’t much blank space on the page and this makes it look
like it is full of interesting stories to the reader and they may
think that it is good value when buying or for the fans kike they
are getting exclusive gossip.
4. KERRANG
Kerrang have used a definite colour
scheme using black, white and
orange. This makes it stand out to
the reader and makes it loud not
boring as the featured Blink 182
aren’t known for being quiet.
The double page title is actually
bigger than the main image that
usually spans half of the page but
with these together it creates a
eye catching page to look at as well
as the background of the picture
creating the left page.
The article itself is divided into the three columns
that is stereotypically used for articles. This gives
the page an organised feel and could make it
easier to read and follow. The colour scheme
again is carried on here as the drop capital J and P
are both in the same orange as the title is in.
There is also the use of a pull quote that
could act as a caption for the main image to
help give an insight into the article and what
it is about again in the same orange.
