20. Cookstove Project
● Indoor air pollution from from cooking on open fires inside the
home kills more than 2 million people annually
● BET has continued this project since 2004
● The rural folk use open fire wood burning stoves to cook during the
day and as a source of heat for the night.
● Every year people die from the smoke inhalation due to stoves
inside their houses which burn at night.
● Smoke inhalation is also the primary cause of respiratory diseases
in children under 5 years
