Brief outline of CDRP and partners
This is an annual process
Want to show some of the headlines of the past year

But when taking population into account...
Lowest crime per head of population in inner London, and by a good margin.

The real headline - and consistently the case.
Real stories from real people - some selective quotes:
The SNT are visible, clued up, approachable and able to relate to the local community. (Resident)
I know that when I go out in Roehampton I am safe... They are like a brother or sister watching over us making sure we don’t get hurt (11 year old)
[I work with] 13-19 year olds [who] unfortunately often have a negative bias towards towards the police and they they all know and more importantly respect the team. This have been down solely to the team’s hard work and commitment. (youth worker)
The team have done more than a good job in Roehampton. Their presence and no nonsense approach has made a big improvement to attitudes in the area (resident)
Quick run through of the process.
Heavily based on stats - priority areas and themes decided and agreed between the partners.
Last year came up with six overall themes.
This year’s refresh [CLICK] basically kept them, some changes underneath, but generally the same.

Robbery long-term - strong downward trend.

Robbery short-term - trend has reversed slightly. Notice the ‘recession’ hump common in all crime types and across the country.
Work had brought it back down (kudos to police).

Shorter-term picture affected by the recession, slight upward trend, but again, starting to be brought under control.

Sub-priorities. Concentrate on burglary, robbery and town centres (hotspots for robbery).
Example Wandsafe
Available to any resident who has suffered a burglary, will offer home safety and security advice in partnership with the police, fire service and victim support: “The burglary experience was very distressing, but thanks to Wandsafe I can now sleep at night.”
VATP long-term - upwards trend. In part because of definition changes that mean that crime that would not have been serious violence a few years ago are now serious.

Trend much flatter (though still evidence of the recession bump).

Example: partnership between the police and council on CCTV.
Last week, report of a fight in Clapham Junction. Police notify CCTV control room, who witness it, and use the cameras to track the culprits who leave before the police arrive, CCTV operator guides them to where they went where they can make an arrest
Wandsworth Residents’ Survey
Police and Council are doing a good or very good job at dealing with local crime

Used to be sceptical, but reassurance is important, affects people’s quality of life if they have a disproportionate fear of crime. Can also result in under-reporting if people form the false view that ‘nothing will happen’.
Example: Neighbourhood Watch, empowering residents to do more to look after themselves and each other while building links with the agencies
1 in 12 re-offend in Wandsworth
1 in 12 re-offend in Wandsworth
1 in 3 commit 2 or more offences

60% of young offenders have a medium risk of re-offending

Example: Prolific and Priority Offenders working group - targeting by the police, but also intervention from all other relevant agencies to provide support and help reduce the temptation of re-offending.
22% of population is 21 or under (GLA estimate) - but in fact totally disproportionate
Also goes the other way, around half of all robbery victims are under 21

Example: Intervention work. Often scoffed, but the cost of not intervening is far greater than the cost of perceived ‘perks’.
eg. Kickz, run in conjunction with Chelsea - sessions have a ‘lecture’ element which buys entitlement to training sessions.
These don’t just bribe people into good behavour, example of CR loss of form, concentration, leading to training programme and education. Learnt the value and rewards of his own effort, rather than succumbing to the frustration that may have led to ASB.
Not a good graph. Relative low volumes but increasing.
Not just about the illegality of drug supply and crime that is around it, but often a motivator of crime. Many arrested for non-drugs offences will test positive for drugs.

Junior Citizen. Example of the education work that goes on, teaching children at an early age about the potential dangers of drugs.
You will get a strategic assessment on your way out and can feedback, but we also want to hear comments and answer questions tonight - expert panel here to do that.
