10. pattison’s patisserie has become a northshore
icon due to a rebuke of colour and steadfast
coveting of monochromatic tones and classic
lines. warm queensland walnut is a contrasting
foil that sets the stage for the glow of pastry
products. the only fuss is which gateaux to
choose.

11. delicate classic parisian style patterning, cool
marble, contemporary drum shades, petite in

are well rewarded for their troubles.

29. style + longevity were at the centre of the
owners brief to paul ocolisan for the re-design
of the beauchamp hotel. a contemporary
interior has been carefully woven into this
historic location to create a pub that feels as
if it has always been there, part of the local
fabric, yet with more than a few suprises to
tempt an increasingly design savvy generation
of ‘pub goers’.

james odlin supports edge with over 30 years of experience in the construction and design industry.
his focus is business development and best practice evolution at all ends of the design, fitout and project
management spectrum. his skills & knowledge are a comprehensive and insightful asset to both clients

sarah lamond design associate
sarah is an interior designer & graphic designer specialising in the branding of retail interiors. the
completion of a consistently branded project from exterior to interior, corporate identity to signage,
packaging to advertising is her utopia, and is a valuable ethic for her clients as well.

rachel possesses a very strong design sensibility that is both sensitive and evocative. she has an indispensible
competence of ensuring that a design is consistent and considered from concept to final documented
detail. her thoughtful design skills have seen her successfully run a myriad of projects from the renovation
of the coopers hotel, newtown to the mccafe set for the channel 7 green room and many shopping centre
refurbishments in the philippines.

tom knows only too well the importance of a well-organized documentation process. it appears he has a
knack for finding technical solutions for even the most inventive of clients. tom’s extensive documentation
experience coupled with his strong design and detailing bent means he is a big fan of ours, and the reason
so many of our projects get produced as per the drawings first time round.

dione loves design. so much so that she’s made a career of it. hailing from the intrinsically detailed and
disciplining world of industrial design, dione is an interior designer of enviable flagship store credits. ben
sherman, jigsaw, wagamama, accessorise, harrods selfridges, david jones, macro wholefoods…who ever
said name-dropping was pretentious? we call it favourable and invaluable.
paul ocolisan senior designer
for more than 14 years, paul has pursued, created and survived some of the tastiest interior projects this
designed planet can dish up. his creative wizardry stems from working across an array of disciplines, from
some of australia’s leading design consultancies and the film industry to his own business. paul’s expertise
actively lies in residential, theatre, retail and hospitality interiors. stroll into the recently renovated
beauchamp hotel, darlinghurst or the soda bar, double bay to savour ocolisan’s style and unleash

42. our design process
[phase 1 - design strategies and planning
at the design planning meeting, edge will format a brief for the project, based on an understanding of the
client’s design objectives and any project constraints. planning, image, market positioning and branding
will be discussed.
[phase 2 - design concept
preliminary design presentation of the project, incorporating floor plans, elevations, finishes + any visuals
needed to explain the proposed design concept.
[phase 3 - design development
in phase three, the design concept is refined and detailed for the client to approve prior to proceeding
with documentation of the project.
[phase 4 - construction documentation
preparation of full construction documentation, specifications + schedules for client approval,
builder/shopfitter tender, and submission to appropriate bodies. eg. council and/or centre management
if needed.
[phase 5 - design implementation
implementation is the co-ordination between documentation and the construction process to ensure the
design intent is achieved + the project is progressing with accordance to the construction documentation.
