3. “Who said time heals all wounds? Who said God
comforts? Does He walk with me to the cemetery to the
grave of my six—year—old son who died of leukemia
twelve years ago, or the grave of my eighteen-year-old
daughter who died of lymphoma two years ago? Does
He cry with me? What could He possibly do to ease the
pain? Does He know how it hurts to pray to a God who is
[supposed to be] merciful? Loving? Understanding? I
work in a hospital. Does He walk through the corridors to
visit the sick, the dying? Is He there to ease the pain, to
wipe the tears? No! No! No!... I’ll feel like this today, and
tomorrow and always. Is there really a God, is He a
creation in the mind of man?... I’m not satisfied with the
answers provided by religion…. I’d like to meet Him face
to face and “tell it like it is.”
4. “I became a Christian and
where did it get me?
Lord, I am doing what
you told me, why am I
having all these
problems?”
5. “If This is
Deliverance…”
Two Things to Remember When Troubles Come
1. Being a Christian does not mean all our
problems will be solved.
2. Having problems does not mean we are
weak spiritually.
6. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we
are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not
destroyed;
1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he
may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the
same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that
are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his
eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered
a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle
you.
8. “If This is
Deliverance…”
1. Turn to prayer
2. Turn to the people of God
3. Turn to God’s promises and
meditate on them
9. Exodus 6:1
1 Then the LORD said unto
Moses, Now shalt thou see
what I will do to Pharaoh: for
with a strong hand shall he let
them go, and with a strong
hand shall he drive them out of
his land.
10. Exodus 6:1
1 Then the LORD said unto
Moses, Now shalt thou see
what I will do to Pharaoh: for
with a strong hand shall he let
them go, and with a strong
hand shall he drive them out of
his land.
