2. To understand what TPACK is we must first
understand the basis of:
Technological Knowledge;
Pedagogical Knowledge; and
Content Knowledge.
3. Pedagogy is the art, strategies or ways of
teaching;
Teachers want their students to engage and
ultimately learn. It is only with the use of good
pedagogical techniques that this occurs.
4. Content Knowledge is the knowledge that the
teacher has the content that they are teaching. Ie.
The subject matter.
Before a teacher can teach content to a student
the teacher must have an understanding of the
content being taught.
The better the teacher’s content knowledge the
more likely it is that such knowledge can be
passed to the students.
5. Technological Knowledge is the knowledge of how
to use technologies.
Is it enough to just know how to use the
technologies?
How will this assist your class?
6. Just as it was important to know what
pedagogies to use to teach the content it is
just as important to know the ways to use
technology to teach and the knowledge of the
affects that using those technologies will
have on the students.
What are some affects that may result from
students using technology at school?
7. So if we add Technological Knowledge,
Pedagogical Knowledge and Content Knowledge
together what will we get?
