How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The title sequence is called ‘Operation Croak’ and our genre is action thriller, but their difference and
similarities between our characters and how we co-operate with each other in the filming. Although
we see our age range between: 17 to 25 and over as it’s mainly action movies that are around the
age group, this is due to the physical action being used such as a gun and it’s a fast paced on how the
film is set out.
The Postures of both men are similar but on how the gun is held is differently, Juber’s Character
(left) Moriarty is holding the gun with only his right hand and (right picture) Bryan Mills has more
control of the gun with both hand wrapped around the gun. Although there is an ethnicity difference
as Juber is Bangladeshi and age different of Youth vs. Experience but both pictures are literally the
same. Nevertheless, the background is different as it refers to class meaning the picture on the left is
based in the council estate and Bryan Mills in Taken is based on a boat. Overall, the picture colour
looks near the same but the Taken picture on the left looks lighter than the Picture on the right. Also
both facial expressions look fierce and aggressive to the camera.
Joe (left) is portraying as De Gaulle a French enemy, where Moriarty (MI6 agent) is tracking De
Gaulle down, whilst De Gaulle is on phone call realising he is being tracked. A Blackberry is used for
the phone call, a use of communication in this generation being used by the youth.
Moriarty and De Gaulle meet outside the council estate with a gun to the forehead of De Gaulle. A
two shot to identify different angles but in the same scene; making the audience feel they were in
the scene in person. Here we realise there is a difference in ethnicity, a stereotype of an Asian
holding a weapon but the difference is that he is in the opposite side. An MI6 agent, as he is not a
bad or evil character comparing to other films which use ethnicity as a bad representation.
