Deh Yak District, Ghazni Province: The Deh Yak district sub-Governor and other
representatives of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan participate in
opening ceremonies for the West Ramak Village Irrigation Rehabilitation Project
5. In the 17 weeks between April 7th and July 13th 2012:

6. Paktya

7. Paktika
Extensive repairs to the irrigation
network in Sar Hawza district began
this week. The project scope, which
provides temporary employment to 615
Sar Hawza residents for 90 days, covers
repairs to 24 reservoirs, nine pipe
culverts, and 4.6km of canals.
8. Zabul
Storm drainage
rehabilitation along
the main road that
runs between
Kalakhel and
Solaymankhel
villages began during
the last week of
June. Repairs to this
drainage system will
prevent flood-borne
road washouts that
presently impact and
estimated 35,000
people living in Shah
Joy district
9. Khost
Short term community-based laborers repaired 522 m3
of erosion protection walls and 200m of irrigation
canals in Tani district, Khost province this week
10. Paktya
Residents of Mir Hassan village in
Dand Wa pattan district spent the
week working on repairs to erosion
protection walls (shown) and a
karez system.
11. Helmand
Road side drainage
repairs near a
market in Lashkar
Gah district. This
project, which
began on May 19th,
is now 22%
complete. Repairs
will help to maintain
infrastructure built
under a 2002
master plan for the
province, developed
by local government
authorities.
12. Khost
Residents of Gurbuz district repaired 525 m3
of erosion protection walls and 400m of
canals this week,
13. Zabul
Residents living near the Shar I Safa bazaar in
Tarnak Wa Jaldak district repair erosion control
walls near a road leading to the bazaar
14. Ghazni
A resident of Deh Yak district,
