A. BRIEF CONCEPT ON ORGANIC FARMING
“Feed the soil, to feed the plant” is a basic principle of organic farming.
“Balik kalikasan para sa kinabukasan ng bayan” is the primary mission and vision of Global Organics and
Bio-Agricultural Concept Inc.
What were the questions raised that inspired and gave aim to the organization (GOBAC) to adhere and push the
development of organic farming?
1st
What are the environmental concerns associated with the use o agricultural
chemicals?
2nd
What are some of the human health concerns associated with the exposure of
Chemical pesticide and fertilizer?
3rd
What would be the economic impact from shifting to chemical methods to organic
methods on both farmer and consumer and the nation?
With the present global warming the signs are already ominous, we could already feel its adverse effects, through
adverse climatic change and at the same time the different new diseases the human race is experiencing. And
thus we felt that we have abused our natural resources that GOD has given us. For this reason we would like to
share a brief summary on what is a sustainable agricultural organic base farming. (Excerpts and research is
derived from Albie Miles curriculum – project coordinator CASFS UC Sta. Cruz California USA).
This could be defined as an approach to agricultural, aquaculture, livestock, where its primary aim is to create an
environmentally sound and economically viable and socially just food and agricultural system. Maximum reliance
is placed on locally or farm derived renewable resources. Thus self regulation ecological and biological process
and an inter-action in order to provide an acceptable level or crop, livestock and human nutrition protection from
pest and disease for an appropriate return to the human and other resources. Sustainable agriculture is not just
the conversion of non-renewable resources, soil energy minerals used to produce food and fiber, sustainable
agriculture also encompasses the maintenance and restoration of our environment. The economic viability for all
involved in agriculture production and more equitable distribution of agricultural products to assure that the basic
human needs are met. The organizations objective is long term sustainability, and thus lies in the heart of organic
farming.
