2. Project 1A Styleguide
The purpose of this assignment was to
upgrade a real time strategy game’s user
interface. This is a screenshot from the game
Mini Warriors.
3. Project 1B Final Styleguide
This is the final revised version of the user
interface for Mini Warriors. One of the
strengths in this piece is how well it flows
together. Elements are not fighting for
attention and has a good combination of
warm and cool colors. Looking back, I
would change the individual health bars to a
different color so that they do not blend into
the colors of the characters.
4. Project 2B Storyboard Commercial
This assignment was done in small groups and we came up with a storyboard for a commercial that could potentially be used for
television. Keeping the idea simple was a strength overall and lead to the illustrations not needing to be very complex to get the
message across. The only thing I would change is being able to clean up the drawings more than what I did.
7. Project 2B Storyboard
Commercial Color Key
The colors used for the inside of the body
and throat work well together. Also changing
the saturation levels of red and green kept
the cough drop and virus from looking like
Christmas ornaments. I would change the
line that is behind the characters to being in
front so that it looks like they are actually
inside the throat.
8. Project 3A Concept Painting Thumbnails
This assignment was to come up with a story and turn it into a painting. I chose to do the story behind the CASEVAC
bell in Iraq. My goal was to keep things simple but put enough objects that would tell the story on its own. Instead of
keeping all the thumbnails in a horizontal format, I could have done a few sketches vertically.
11. Color Study
I wanted to recreate a scenery that was
similar to what it is like in Iraq, so I chose to
go with warm colors. Doing a color study
allowed me to see which colors worked well
together and which did not.
12. Final Concept Painting
Creating this painting allowed me to use
most of the skills I have learned up to this
point. A major strength is capturing the
mood in the image. The story is about the
bell so it was important to make sure it
stood out but not take over the entire image.
I would make the foreground more legible
so that the buildings are easier to see.
