1. THE TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
In Colombia, a public school has 40 students it made I find some difficulties to
engage students in foreign language learning as choose an appropriated materials
which makes an interesting class for all students. Although, the need analysis is a
useful to encourage students in order to they can complete their learning process,
but large number of students made a littler bit difficult to attract their attention
where there are only three or four students who really like learning and
participating in class.
Some activities that I liked implementing in the classroom were the dice and
Parcheesi which made them interesting these activities at the first moment. But the
problem to implement these activities did not involve all students and the discipline
was rising. When they don’t pay attention, I use a strategy to attract their attention
like “Class, Class” and they answer “yes, yes”. It has been useful in the classroom.
But it is not enough because they are easily distracted.
In the teaching process was very essential taking into account students’ opinions
and implemented some games to encourage students in order to have a good
relation between students and teacher. But I think that I should be more authority
because I could be their friend but to make them aware who is the leader and
guide in the classroom without lack of respect. Also I think that we should break the
traditional method; and give students to develop a critical thinking in their real
context, and the teacher methodology will be more deductive which makes them to
analyze and question about the topic.
As teacher the most important thing is students feeling due to some students feel
frustrated when they are starting to learn this language. I think that teaching the
subject is not enough to help students in their learning. We also need to teach the
values as they should behave and accept their differences as human being.
