According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) 2008 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard study, the state of Georgia currently ranks thirty-six out of fifty states in regards to overall energy efficiency. This shocking statistic emphasizes the need to improve Georgia’s current energy efficiency practices by increasing the regional awareness of a major environmental issue. 1

While we are able to improve our intrapersonal and interpersonal communication skills by working as Befficient Consulting, we are able to further develop our professional communication skill set by working with the Sierra Club over the course of the semester. “Professional communication” Why the Sierra Club was our top choice – good cause, all passionate about it… By working on this project we have all become Ambassadors of energy efficiency
Why sierra club needs us? We wantd them and they needed us! BEfficient! Consulting group has identified three areas of improvement for the Sierra Club: Lack of Awareness: Efficiency is not widely understood or discussed by the general Georgia public, governmental and non-governmental institutions. Sierra Club has not yet found and effective way to communicate their Efficiency campaign in a way that increases awareness and knowledge of Efficiency to the lay person and other important parties. Lack of Excitement: In order to increase awareness, the topic of efficiency must be appealing and engaging to all audiences, especially the Georgia public, Sierra Club members, and other partner organizations. The Sierra Club’s Georgia must promote Efficiency as an interesting and exciting topic for their target audiences. Lack of Up-to-Date Material: The Sierra Club is need of up to date informative materials on Efficiency. This year many governmental funding and campaign initiatives have changed. Incorporating these governmental changes into Sierra Club presentations about efficiency will increase credibility, persuasive power and momentum of the Efficiency campaign.

We are not going to show you our entire powerpoint deliverable as there are 30 + slides and we are pressed for time, therefore we are going to highlight the key points that we feel are important to show to you (basic idea to seg way into this)
-Sierra club Atlanta focused on GA only, SE clearly has an energy problem -referring back to our statistics in the beginning, GA is ranked 36 th out of 50 states

-Energy efficiency is important, sierra club focusing their efforts on it (tangible, easy solution to help improve the environment) -Hired Befficient Consulting, bring all our different “talents” together to help Sierra Club solve issue -Develop a PR campaign to promote energy efficiency -Lack of awareness, excitement, up-to-date material -> initially found, through research proved these to be true -PowerPoint/Pamphlet/Video: teach audiences what efficiency is, practices they can do, and benefits (money, environment, health) -All experiences helped to develop our interpersonal, intrapersonal, professional skill sets (Great Learning Experience); career development
As Business Professionals we should never forget our fellow community members and play upon our passions/strengths to give back to the community Using education for the greater good
