                                                  OVERVIEW
Nearly 20 years of architectural experience in a wide variety of projects with a focus on Healthcare and
Science facilities in Academic, Commercial, Non-Profit and Government markets. Works closely with
multi-disciplined teams to coordinate tasks and meet project goals. Managed and was responsible for
over $30 million in architectural fees and built almost $750 million in building projects throughout career.
Strong analytical and deductive skills used to creatively analyze unique problems and arrive at solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with diverse clients and consultants to best understand their
specific needs.

                                        PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

PROJECT MANAGER                                                             September, 2006 – June, 2010
HuntonBrady Architects                                                                      Orlando, Florida
Responsible for project management and technical completeness for a variety of healthcare, science,
commercial and educational projects. Also took an active participatory role in marketing the firm in the
emerging Orlando Science and Technology industry.
• Managed 160,000 SF University of Florida project with budget of $5 million with multiple consultants
   and over 20 additional services. Construction budget was $72 million; overall project budget was
   $90 million. Project received (and is still receiving) numerous press releases and is gaining national
   recognition in three presentations for Tradelines and Labs21. Project is expected to obtain LEED
   Gold Certification, when LEED Silver was original project target.
• Obtained LEED AP Accreditation, and used it to develop firm LEED guidelines and checklists.
   Initiated firm’s first LEED Management project with Florida Hospital Celebration and is assisting
   inexperienced consultants on how to coordinate their efforts with LEED requirements.
• Coached Administrative staff on architectural business practices to better enable them to perform
   their duties. Shown pay application process, identified phases of projects and other aspects of
   documentation required for projects. Resulted in lower turnover of administrative staff, one
   administrative person was promoted to Administrative Manager a year after her hire.
• Generated repeat business with company clients by successfully completing small healthcare
   projects with no substantive AHCA comments. Started with $60k architectural fee and increased to
   multiple projects with over $200k in fees for one client.
• Participated in Architectural Firm Management by conducting employee performance reviews,
   company strategic planning sessions, and project management meetings.
• Developed marketing presentations to increase the firm’s presence in the industry and in the
   Orlando science community and for national Healthcare Design presentations illustrating the firm’s
   capabilities.
• Prepared initial proposal for UF Institute on Aging proposal which got the firm short-listed and invited
   for final interviews. Only 4 out of 20 firms were selected. Assisted University of Florida for writing the
   winning NIH ARRA Grant which initiated the project used for the proposal.
• Advised on Building Codes. Directed and interpreted building codes for technical purposes
   throughout the design process to ensure compliance. Advised on Florida Building Code, Florida
   Accessibility Code, AHCA AIA guidelines, LEED and other supplementary codes as required.

Responsible for the development, coordination and management of construction documents.
• Responsible for the development of construction documents and construction administration for
   two identical 160,000 GSF middle school campuses located in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida.
• Conducted meetings with clients to design and develop design build documentation for various
   facilities and structures, including fire stations, theme park pavilions, hazardous gas facilities and
   municipal infrastructures.
• Managed Construction Administration activities, including the review and documentation of
   construction submittals, field observations, final observation documentation, and processing
   change proposals.
• Lead diverse teams to meet project goals. Supervised projects and personnel as needed to aid
   Executive Management.

PLANNER/ARCHITECT                                                       March, 2003 – August, 2005
Flad & Associates                                                                Madison, Wisconsin
Assigned to a variety of projects and capacities, ranging from programming to construction
administration.
• Project Manager and Technical Writer, establishing national corporate safety guidelines in
    laboratory planning and design of future research facilities.
• Project Architect, responsible for the management of a design team for major pharmaceutical
    clients in a variety of sites throughout the United States.
• Vivarium Planner for a Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) focusing on biodefense and
    bioterrorism.
• Programmer and Planner for a proposed 200,000 GSF research facility and pilot plant.

PROJECT ARCHITECT                                                                 July, 2001 – February, 2003
Kling                                                                                       Washington, D.C.
Worked directly with clients to develop preliminary building programs and to establish the design criteria
necessary to construct a building that met the client’s needs in addition to performing the tasks of a
Project Architect.
• Responsible for the development of macroprogramming documents for a 140,000 GSF government
    research facility that focused on the evaluation and research of devices and their interaction with
    the human body.
• Streamlined the programming documentation process by creating standardized questionnaires,
    coordinating CAD files with macroprogramming and microprogramming requirements.
• Coordinated the development of work plans that established the manpower, budget and schedule
    of various projects ranging from $100,000 to $1.5 million in architectural fees.
• Managed Construction Administration activities, including the review and documentation of
    construction submittals, field observations, final observation documentation, and processing
    change proposals.
• Lead diverse teams to meet project goals. Supervised small projects as needed to aid the Project
    Management team.

PROJECT ARCHITECT                                                               March, 1996 – July, 2001
HDR Architecture                                                                     Alexandria, Virginia
Responsible for all aspects of a project necessary to produce documentation required to construct a
building that meets the client’s needs.
• Experience includes varied building types such as research facilities, animal facilities, BSL3 lab suites,
    NMR suites, radio-frequency shielding suites, auditoriums, cleanrooms, cGMP facilities, federal
    courthouses, communication facilities for distance learning, NICU, OR, ER, Nursing Stations,
    Examination Suites, Class 100 cleanrooms, darkrooms, semiconductor manufacturing suites and
    data processing centers.
• Designed and created independent project web site used for construction management, project
    promotion and client move coordination. Assisted in the creation of marketing materials for
    presentation purposes.
• Conducted design meetings with the client and those who would use the facility to determine
    specific requirements needed to design a facility which best met their needs, and developed
    Design Development documents to support these requirements.
• Participated in Architectural Firm management by assisting the Section Manager in the selection of
    potential employees by administering CAD tests and conducting interviews.
• Participated in inter-office groups to help increase productivity, represented employee needs, and
    improved the quality of the workplace. Mentored other employees in understanding CAD programs
    and the construction documentation process to help make them more productive.
• Directed construction administration that involved working with the Client’s Representative and with
    the General Contractor to solve construction issues, such as responding to Contractor’s questions,
    issuing Change Proposals and reviewing Shop Drawings.
• Created construction documentation, which involved the proficiency of both Microstation and
    Autocad computer programs to aid in the creation of documents. Designed details to be given to
    Architectural Technicians for inclusion into construction documents. Wrote and edited construction
    specifications to meet project requirements. Able to conduct productive research to assist in
    developing details necessary for unique conditions that might occur during construction.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE PROJECT MANAGER September, 2006 – June, 2010 HuntonBrady Architects Orlando, Florida Responsible for project management and technical completeness for a variety of healthcare, science, commercial and educational projects. Also took an active participatory role in marketing the firm in the emerging Orlando Science and Technology industry. • Managed 160,000 SF University of Florida project with budget of $5 million with multiple consultants and over 20 additional services. Construction budget was $72 million; overall project budget was $90 million. Project received (and is still receiving) numerous press releases and is gaining national recognition in three presentations for Tradelines and Labs21. Project is expected to obtain LEED Gold Certification, when LEED Silver was original project target. • Obtained LEED AP Accreditation, and used it to develop firm LEED guidelines and checklists. Initiated firm’s first LEED Management project with Florida Hospital Celebration and is assisting inexperienced consultants on how to coordinate their efforts with LEED requirements. • Coached Administrative staff on architectural business practices to better enable them to perform their duties. Shown pay application process, identified phases of projects and other aspects of documentation required for projects. Resulted in lower turnover of administrative staff, one administrative person was promoted to Administrative Manager a year after her hire. • Generated repeat business with company clients by successfully completing small healthcare projects with no substantive AHCA comments. Started with $60k architectural fee and increased to multiple projects with over $200k in fees for one client. • Participated in Architectural Firm Management by conducting employee performance reviews, company strategic planning sessions, and project management meetings. • Developed marketing presentations to increase the firm’s presence in the industry and in the Orlando science community and for national Healthcare Design presentations illustrating the firm’s capabilities. • Prepared initial proposal for UF Institute on Aging proposal which got the firm short-listed and invited for final interviews. Only 4 out of 20 firms were selected. Assisted University of Florida for writing the winning NIH ARRA Grant which initiated the project used for the proposal. • Advised on Building Codes. Directed and interpreted building codes for technical purposes throughout the design process to ensure compliance. PROJECT ARCHITECT September, 2005 – August, 2006 BRPH Companies Melbourne, Florida Responsible for the development, coordination and management of construction documents. • Responsible for the development of construction documents and construction administration for two identical 160,000 GSF middle school campuses located in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida. • Conducted meetings with clients to design and develop design build documentation for various facilities and structures, including fire stations, theme park pavilions, hazardous gas facilities and municipal infrastructures. • Managed Construction Administration activities, including the review and documentation of construction submittals, field observations, final observation documentation, and processing change proposals. • Lead diverse teams to meet project goals. Supervised projects and personnel as needed to aid Executive Management. PLANNER/ARCHITECT March, 2003 – August, 2005 Flad & Associates Madison, Wisconsin Assigned to a variety of projects and capacities, ranging from programming to construction administration. • Project Manager and Technical Writer, establishing national corporate safety guidelines in laboratory planning and design of future research facilities. • Project Architect, responsible for the management of a design team for major pharmaceutical clients in a variety of sites throughout the United States. • Vivarium Planner for a Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) focusing on biodefense and bioterrorism. • Programmer and Planner for a proposed 200,000 GSF research facility and pilot plant. PROJECT ARCHITECT July, 2001 – February, 2003 Kling Washington, D.C. Worked directly with clients to develop preliminary building programs and to establish the design criteria necessary to construct a building that met the client’s needs in addition to performing the tasks of a Project Architect. • Responsible for the development of macroprogramming documents for a 140,000 GSF government research facility that focused on the evaluation and research of devices and their interaction with the human body. • Streamlined the programming documentation process by creating standardized questionnaires, coordinating CAD files with macroprogramming and microprogramming requirements. • Coordinated the development of work plans that established the manpower, budget and schedule of various projects ranging from $100,000 to $1.5 million in architectural fees. • Managed Construction Administration activities, including the review and documentation of construction submittals, field observations, final observation documentation, and processing change proposals. • Lead diverse teams to meet project goals. PROJECT ARCHITECT March, 1996 – July, 2001 HDR Architecture Alexandria, Virginia Responsible for all aspects of a project necessary to produce documentation required to construct a building that meets the client’s needs. • Experience includes varied building types such as research facilities, animal facilities, BSL3 lab suites, NMR suites, radio-frequency shielding suites, auditoriums, cleanrooms, cGMP facilities, federal courthouses, communication facilities for distance learning, NICU, OR, ER, Nursing Stations, Examination Suites, Class 100 cleanrooms, darkrooms, semiconductor manufacturing suites and data processing centers. • Designed and created independent project web site used for construction management, project promotion and client move coordination. Assisted in the creation of marketing materials for presentation purposes. • Conducted design meetings with the client and those who would use the facility to determine specific requirements needed to design a facility which best met their needs, and developed Design Development documents to support these requirements. • Participated in Architectural Firm management by assisting the Section Manager in the selection of potential employees by administering CAD tests and conducting interviews. • Participated in inter-office groups to help increase productivity, represented employee needs, and improved the quality of the workplace. Mentored other employees in understanding CAD programs and the construction documentation process to help make them more productive. • Directed construction administration that involved working with the Client’s Representative and with the General Contractor to solve construction issues, such as responding to Contractor’s questions, issuing Change Proposals and reviewing Shop Drawings. • Created construction documentation, which involved the proficiency of both Microstation and Autocad computer programs to aid in the creation of documents. Designed details to be given to Architectural Technicians for inclusion into construction documents. Wrote and edited construction specifications to meet project requirements. Participated and helped to write the draft of the Labs 21 Environmental Performance Criteria developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency to create laboratory sustainability practices.
