In Aleppo, Syria, a 4 year-old little girl, Rena was shot in the cheek with a sniper bullet.
Rena was playing on her mother’s lap, with a sad face she cried for her mother then went silent.
Rena was rushed the to hospital where they were able to stabilized her but lacked the
tools to preform surgery. The only other option was to take her to Aleppo’s front lines, a
government-controlled hospital. The bullet was fired from a higher apartment blocks opposite to
her home. The buildings are rebel territory and were just blocks away from Rena’s house. The
snipers are known to work inside rebel-held places.
The type of glass was frosted, so the gunman wouldn’t be able to see exactly whohe was
shooting. Next morning locals where telling the reporters that Rena had died from the wounds.
Later that evening a relative told the reporters that the investigators could not find the bullet in
her home, they had found the bullet was stuck in Rena’s throat.
Students should be carful no matter where they are in the world. It seems as though
many people are being killed for unknown reasons. We as students should always be aware what
is around us. Although home should be the safest place for you to go,double check your
surroundings.
