Murrayville Community Plan 2.1 Planning Goals (4) The identification and protection of heritage resources in recognition of their cultural, educational and enjoyment value to present and future generations. 2.2 Planning Objectives (13) To consider the heritage resources of Murrayville in the preparation of land use policies and bylaws in the review of development proposals in Murrayville.

Objectives of the HCA Recognize and enhance the historic nature of Murrayville Promote the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the heritage buildings in the Area Ensure that building restorations, rehabilitations, alterations or redevelopment enhances the heritage character of the Area Accommodate infill consistent with the heritage buildings in the Area Respect the design of existing contemporary buildings Communicate the historic value of the area through complementary streetworks and interpretive features

Aims of the Guidelines Inform the public of the intent to enhance the character of historic Murrayville Promote economically viable commercial and residential projects Encourage the retention and revitalization of individual historic buildings Provide guidance for new construction Encourage an appropriate streetscape appearance that will benefit the entire heritage area
47. Building Classifications Scheduled Historic Buildings Non-Scheduled Existing Buildings and Renovations, and Infill Buildings and New Construction
48. Scheduled Historic Buildings 30 sites, or approximately one third of the sites encompassed within the proposed boundaries, are listed historic sites

Non-Scheduled Existing Buildings Infill and New Construction It is recommend that these existing buildings be renovated in a manner consistent with the form scale and style of their particular period There is NO requirement in the guidelines to alter these buildings to reflect a historic “theme” It is recommended that design concepts for proposed new construction should attempt to blend harmoniously with the historic elements in the Area Guidance is provided on how this may be achieved
