In the past 10 years I’ve worked with over 30 CEOs in helping them solve their problems, usually revenue and market related. And today, I’ll give you insight how all of this experience that started with 2 pieces of paper in hand landed me in a position of saving lives.In 20 years what have I learned. Today, there is always an intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in innovation, invention and business! It is wear ideas come to life!
BUT WHAT IS NOTICEABLE WHEN thinking about how each intersections work, there is usually a stop and go. THAT DOESN’T WORK IN TODAY’S GLOBAL ECONOMY SPPED. TODAY THE success of STEM requires more than intersecting of ideas, it requires constant collaboration and exchanges between disciplines to fully maximize the problem solving capabilities. BE AGILE, FIX THINGS IN REAL-TIME.
More importantly what it can cause is EPIC FAILURE. Do we really have time to stop, make a decision to go an forward, left or right or can we look at STEM in a more innovative way?
Looking at the typical standard, intersection through the eyes of an innovator, they would look to create a better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are accepted by markets, governments, and society.An "Innovative", or "Alternative Intersection" generally meets two criteria:Able to increase efficiency by reducing traffic signal complexity. Usually by eliminating or relocating left-turn phases from signalized intersections.
MAYBE THEY WOULD MODERNIZE THE INTERSECTION AND CREATE A ROUNDABOUT! Roundabouts first came to be in the 1700s. If you ever been to Paris, you may have seen a very chaotic roundabout at the Arc de Triomphe. Some may say this innovation worked best before the automobile was invented, but it solved a problem for Parisians 300-400 years ago.A roundabout is a type of circular intersection, a junction in which road traffic flows in one direction around a central island. In a roundabout, entering traffic must always yield to traffic already in the circle, and roundabouts have additional restrictions on the junction layout to give high safety. Roundabouts, in their modern form, were standardised in the UK, based on the experience of traffic circles in the U.S. but are now common in many countries around the world.iver time, as more scientists, engineers, mathematicians and technologists looked to improve as we added to the complexity of the intersection, they constantly updated the concept of the roundabout. The first few modern roundabouts were able to solve awkward intersections that were previously unsolvable
AS WE THINK ABOUT THE INTERSECTION OF MODERNIZING AN INTERSECTION – THINK ABOUT How many people that are educated in Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering participate in the development of a roundabout? Architects?Civil Engineers?Mechnical Engineers?Drafters?Computer software experts?General contractors?ScientistsAND THE RESULT OF THIS INNOVATION???? Roundabouts are safer than both traffic circles and junctions—having 40% fewer vehicle collisions, 80% fewer injuries and 90% fewer serious injuries and fatalities (according to a study of a sampling of roundabouts in the United States, when compared with the junctions they replaced).
So you think about the intersection of STEM and combine that with your daily struggles, the world’s problems and how you might see these problems as opportunities for solutions. THAT IS WHAT bringS out the best in us.

The new iPod touch can play music for up to 40 hours, the new iPod nano can play up to 24 hours, the new iPod classic can play up to 36 hours, and the new iPod shuffle can play up to 15 hours on a full charge at original capacity. A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.There are a few features that use your iPod battery more quickly. If you don’t use these features, your iPod will play tunes longer.Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi consumes power even if you are not using its features to connect to a network. You can turn it off to save power. Go to Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi.Backlight: Setting the backlight to “always on” will significantly reduce your battery life. Use the backlight only when necessary.Adjust brightness: Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life on iPod touch. Go to Settings > Brightness and drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness. In addition, turning on Auto-Brightness allows the screen to adjust its brightness based on current lighting conditions. Go to Settings > Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On.Equalizer: Adding EQs to playback uses more of your iPod processor, since they aren’t encoded in the song. Turn EQ off if you don’t use it. If, however, you’ve added EQ to tracks in iTunes, you’ll need to set EQ to “flat” in order to have the effect of “off,” because iPod keeps your iTunes settings intact.Minimize use of third-party applications: Excessive use of applications on iPod touch, such as games that prevent the screen from dimming or shutting off, can reduce battery life.Fetch new data less frequently: Applications on iPod touch such as Mail can be set to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently email or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch new data manually, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services.Turn off push mail: If you have a push mail account on iPod touch such as Yahoo! or Microsoft Exchange, turn off push mail when you don’t need it. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off. Messages sent to your push email accounts will now be received on your iPod touch based on the global Fetch setting rather than as they arrive.Turn off push notifications: If you have apps installed on iPod touch that use push notifications, you can turn them off for some or all apps. Go to Settings > Notifications and set Notifications to Off to turn off all push notifications. The push notification settings for each app also appear here. Select the app and set specific notifications to Off.

Let me give you a real example of what I mean by solving a problem and using passion as the driving force.Michelle King Robson was 40 years old and sick! She was going to many doctors to find answers, explanation of what was happening.
She got online and looked for information. Found lots of encyclopedic information. Question after question goes unanswered…
So when she finally got help and got better, she got mad and determined! She said, ‘NEVER AGAIN’ should someone have such a health issue and not be able to get to resources, ask questions and GET A RESPONSE. HOW CAN SHE CONNECT ALL THE WOMEN IN THE WORLD TO GET BETTER AND STAY WELL! GLOBAL!

Turn your passion into an idea. Balance this with knowing the world. Stay in touch. Be sensitive to the problems faced by the unfortunate and marginalized. Get out and volunteer.Look into problems that affect you in a very personal way. We're more likely to be motivated by problems we can relate to on a personal level.
Connect with people working on big problems. In a world where problems are by their very nature interdisciplinary, just getting to know people who are passionate about one problem leads to discussions on how other problems can be solved.
Maybe what you do can save lives!
