What is Mis en scene?
Literally means “staging or putting on an
action or scene” it is everything a director
puts into his vision of the film.

2. • Design – the [process by which the look of the
settings, props, lighting and actors is
determined.
• Composition is the organization, distribution,
balance and general relationship od actors
and objects within a space in each shot.

3. What’s a production designer?
They work closely with the director to bring the movie
to life by creating a visual theme. They overseen
composition of a movie by thinking about:
• Art
• Costuming
• Make-up
• Hairstyle
• Properties (furniture, et al)
• Set construction
• Transportation

4. • Setting – the environment is which the
narrative takes place
• Décor –the color and textures of the interior
decoration, furniture draperies, et al
• properties (props) objects like paintsing,
cases, flower and other stuff germane to
characters that may offer clues inside them.

5. • Soundstage –windowless, soundproofed
professional shooting environment with just
enough room to film a scene or several
scenes.
• Costumes –outfits worn by actors
