4. Let’s Go to the Other Side
Mar 4:35 ESV On that day, when evening had come, he said to them,
"Let us go across to the other side."
Mat 8:18-21 ESV Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave
orders to go over to the other side. (19) And a scribe came up and said
to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." (20) And Jesus
said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the
Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." (21) Another of the disciples
said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."
Mat 8:23 ESV And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed
him.
6. Great Storms Can Arrive Quickly
Mar 4:37-38 ESV And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were
breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. (38) But he
was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to
him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
According to Robert’s Word Pictures: There ariseth a great storm of wind
(ginetai lailaps megalē anemou). Mark’s vivid historical present again.
Mat_8:24 has egeneto (arose) and Luk_8:23 katebē (came down). Luke
has also lailaps, but Matthew seismos (tempest), a violent upheaval like
an earthquake. Lailaps is an old word for these cyclonic gusts or storms.
Luke’s “came down” shows that the storm fell suddenly from Mount
Hermon down into the Jordan Valley and smote the Sea of Galilee
violently at its depth of 682 feet below the Mediterranean Sea. The hot
air at this depth draws the storm down with sudden power. These sudden
storms continue to this day on the Sea of Galilee. Thewordoccursinthelxx

7. Great Storms Can Arrive Quickly
Mar 4:37-38 ESV And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were

Mat 8:24 ESV And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that
the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.
Luk 8:23 ESV and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came
down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger.
We are about to DIE!!! Where is Jesus?
8. Does Jesus Care?
1Pe 5:7 ESV casting all your anxieties on him,
because he cares for you.
Rom 5:6-8 ESV For while we were still weak, at
the right time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For
one will scarcely die for a righteous person--
though perhaps for a good person one would dare
even to die-- (8) but God shows his love for us in
that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9. Who then is This?
Mar 4:39-40 ESV And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the
sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
(40) He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?"
“Peace Be Still” – Literally “Hush,” “Muzzle it!!!”
Mar 4:41 ESV And they were filled with great fear and said to one
another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
10. Who then is This?

Mat 16:15-19 ESV He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
(16) Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living
