Kerrang Magazine cover The masthead connotates that the target audience is teenagers as this is shown as the title is a smashed- like style. This also connotates that the genre of the magazine is rock due to the title style.  The male here is using a carefree pose as his arms are behind his head. He can also be seductive as his head is tilted to the side and part of his body showing, inviting the reader in to read the magazine.  The photos of the different rock stars inform the reader of the who is involved in the magazine. It’s also useful as the reader may read about a specific rock star by seeing the photo. This piece of the magazine invites the reader to read the magazine as it is using direct address by using the word ‘you’.  This piece of the magazine informs the reader of what’s in the magazine so that the reader may want to read the magazine because of this specific article in the magazine. There is a piece of the reverse male gaze here as the image of the man has some of his body showing and so invites females to read the magazine because of him This strip line shows to the reader what is involved in the magazine. It will also get the reader to want on read about this feature

This may be used to inform the reader of what's in the magazine so the reader may read about what the editors commenting on.  This text is a direct address from someone interviewed in the magazine. This will get the reader to read the interview if they find this piece interesting. This also informs the reader of who is being interviewed so the reader may want to read it just because of this person. This photo is used to capture the readers eye as it is the biggest photo. This can also inform the reader that this is the main article in the magazine and gets the reader to read about this band. On this side of the contents it informs the reader that there are different sections of the magazine due to the sub-headings. It also informs the reader of what’s in these sections. It also gives the idea that this magazine will have an interview on this person.  This little section of the contents informs the reader of another article in the magazine. The text is in a circle to help it stand out and attract the reader’s attention. This could also be used to hook the reader into wanting to read this article.  These texts at the bottom of the page make the reader think that these articles aren’t as important as the others as the texts are small and packed in a small space. The text below it gives the reader information on this man and gets the reader to want to read about this man The masthead doesn’t go across the cover but is clearly shown in bold text so that the masthead is clearly seen. The text seems abit unrealistic as it says ‘conquers America’ but this implies that this band is a huge hit in America and will get the reader to want to read about it. This text gives the reader some information on the band. The text ‘guns, gods’ suggest that this is an important band and will get the reader to read the article. The text ‘4 million albums sold’ suggests that this is a good band and the reader should read about them. The white text here implies that this band are famous as it says ‘everyone has fallen to them’ which also suggests that they are better than other bands. It also uses direct address to make the reader feel involved.  The bold text is used to grasp the reader’s attention towards the magazine. It also implies that the band shown is the main article in the magazine. The colour of the text also makes it stand out from the rest of the magazine.
