The Indian stock market indices extended their gains on Tuesday, with the Nifty closing near its daily high. Metals, oil and gas, and capital goods stocks performed well. In the near term, 5,765 will be a crucial level for the Nifty, and the index is likely to see further buying above this level. Markets extended intraday gains on
Tuesday, with Nifty closing near day's
high of 5,750 on the back of positive cues
from European peers and short
coverings.
The 50-share index ended at 5,744.90, up
40.50 points or 0.71 per cent. It touched a
high of 5,754.60 and a low of 5,687.15 in
trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 19,040.95,
up 176.20 points or 0.93 per cent. It
touched a high of 19,060.51 and a low of
18,826.53 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 1.43
per cent and the S&P BSE Smallcap Index
rallied 2.28 per cent.
Among the sectoral indices, the S&P BSE
Metal Index gained 2.07 per cent, the S&P
BSE Oil & Gas Index was 1.99 per cent
higher and the S&P BSE Capital Goods
Index moved up 1.88 per cent.

The option data suggests that the market participants are currently
visualizing the 5900 mark on the higher side. Very high CALL writing at
5900 Strike price will stop market to move beyond 5900 mark. On the other
side we can see equal PUT writings on 5600 to 5500 strike price. This
indicates that NIFTY down move would be restricted below 5500 mark. Last
session’s option data indicated that NIFTY can have a range of 5500 and
5900 in near term.
