Outlook for the day
After Friday's carnage, there has been a
downward shift in the Nifty's range and
Wednesday's fall seems to be confirming this
view. If Nifty ends August below the 5,450 mark,
it is likely to enter into a new medium-term
trading band of 4,900-5,500.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended down 340
points to close below 18,000 level, while
the Nifty closed above psychological mark
of 5,300 as the rupee continued to remain
under pressure ahead of the US FOMC
minutes on bond buying programme.
The 50-share index ended at 5,302.55,
down 98.90 points or 1.83 per cent. It
touched a high of 5,504.10 and a low of
5,268.45 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 17,905.91,
down 340.13 points or 1.86 per cent. It
touched a high of 18,567.70 and a low of
17,807.19 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was down
1.21 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap
Index dropped 0.71 per cent.
Among the sectoral indices, the S&P BSE
Realty Index was down 3.95 per cent, the
S&P BSE Metal Index was 3.66 per cent
lower and the S&P BSE Oil & Gas index
slipped 3.43 per cent.

Option Strategy- NIFTY OPTION OPEN INTEREST CHART
NIFTY OPTION OPEN INTEREST CHANGE CHART
The option data suggests that the market participants are currently
visualizing the 5700 mark on the higher side. Very high CALL writing at
5700 Strike price will stop market to move beyond 5700 mark. On the other
side we can see equal PUT writings on 5400 to 5300 strike price. This
indicates that NIFTY down move would be restricted below 5300 mark. Last
session’s option data indicated that NIFTY can have a range of 5300 and
5700 in near term.
