What is TiE?
TiE is the world's largest not-for-profit
organization for entrepreneurs
TiE Network
The TiE network has 13,000 members,
including 2,500 seasoned entrepreneurs.
There are currently 56 TiE Chapters
spread across 13 countries around the
world.
Origin of TiE
• The concept of TiE was born at the end of
1992 at a lunch meeting of Silicon Valley
entrepreneurs and professionals.
• By 1994, TiE had become a formal
organization with a larger group of members
and participants.
• TiE remains a unique volunteer driven
organization, with the single-minded focus on
its objective, ‘FOSTERING ENTREPREURSHIP’!
TiE Philosophy
Mission:
The mission of TiE is to promote entrepreneurship
through mentoring, networking and education.
Vision:
The vision of TiE is to be recognized as the global
organization fostering entrepreneurship.
The Purpose
• The purpose of TiE is to encourage and nurture
the next generation of entrepreneurs.
• Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth
creation, TiE charter members (accomplished
entrepreneurs & businessmen) aim to give back
to the community mentoring aspiring
entrepreneurs.
• TiE aims at spurring development and economic
growth in vibrant economies as well as under-
developed regions.
Global footprint
TiE has established chapters in US, Canada, India, UK,
Pakistan, Singapore, Dubai, Australia and Malaysia,
the TiE movement has created a strong foothold in
many parts of the world.
TiE Achievements
• By facilitating ideas to germinate into actual
businesses, TiE has created wealth and helped
boost the global economy.
• Individuals associated with TiE have created
businesses with market value over $200
Billion, since 1992.
• TiE has supported many entrepreneurs
through mentoring.
TiE Chennai Chapter
TiE Chennai is an active chapter with over 90
Charter Members and 300 Associate
Members.
The chapter is focused on inspiring, educating
and mentoring entrepreneurs in Chennai and
Tamil Nadu.
TiE CHENNAI’s regular activities:
• My Story Sessions: A monthly event conducted for members of TiE, wherein
established entrepreneurs talk about their experiences while as a start up and how
they progressed through their journey in various stages.
• Coffee with Chartter Member: A monthly event that focuses on one-on-one
meetings. Charter Members meet with startups and Associate Members to advice
and mentor these entrepreneurs on key areas of their businesses.
• Mentoring Workshops: Mentors are enlisted from among the Charter Members
and Mentees are from Associate Members or other budding entrepreneurs.
Mentoring helps develop leadership skills and knowledge skills in mentees.
TiE Chennai also launched Remote Mentoring for members, to leverage global
pool of Mentors
• Venture Capital Events: Signature events that happen every quarter for members
that focuses on meeting new VCs and Angel Investors. Various topics like preparing
a business plan, importance of a core team, readiness to attract capital at various
stages of the business, etc. are covered.
TiE CHENNAI’s regular activities:
• Associate Member Networking : A monthly event focusing on members
meeting each other in a common platform to discuss their business
domains and spend time networking with new members.
• Business Plan Competition: LIBA-TIE Chennai Business Plan Competition.
In 2009, this competition attracted over 200 business plans
• Partnered Events: TiE Chennai partners with other entities, such as Loyola
Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Great Lakes Institute of
Management, NEN, IIT and Microsoft Bizspark, to conduct special events
for entrepreneurs.
• Monthly Featured Events: feature guest speakers and/ or panels on a
variety of subjects (e.g. Microfinance, Doing business in Israel), open to
Charter Members, Associate Members and guests.

• TiECON Chennai 2010: The foremost and most
widely known flagship event that TiE hosts.
• TiECON is the largest professional and
networking conference for entrepreneurs.

TiE - AN OVERVIEW

  • 2. What is TiE? TiE is the world's largest not-for-profit organization for entrepreneurs
  • 3. TiE Network The TiE network has 13,000 members, including 2,500 seasoned entrepreneurs. There are currently 56 TiE Chapters spread across 13 countries around the world.
  • 4. Origin of TiE • The concept of TiE was born at the end of 1992 at a lunch meeting of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and professionals. • By 1994, TiE had become a formal organization with a larger group of members and participants. • TiE remains a unique volunteer driven organization, with the single-minded focus on its objective, ‘FOSTERING ENTREPREURSHIP’!
  • 5. TiE Philosophy Mission: The mission of TiE is to promote entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking and education. Vision: The vision of TiE is to be recognized as the global organization fostering entrepreneurship.
  • 6. The Purpose • The purpose of TiE is to encourage and nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs. • Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation, TiE charter members (accomplished entrepreneurs & businessmen) aim to give back to the community mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs. • TiE aims at spurring development and economic growth in vibrant economies as well as under- developed regions.
  • 7. Global footprint TiE has established chapters in US, Canada, India, UK, Pakistan, Singapore, Dubai, Australia and Malaysia, the TiE movement has created a strong foothold in many parts of the world.
  • 8. TiE Achievements • By facilitating ideas to germinate into actual businesses, TiE has created wealth and helped boost the global economy. • Individuals associated with TiE have created businesses with market value over $200 Billion, since 1992. • TiE has supported many entrepreneurs through mentoring.
  • 9. TiE Chennai Chapter TiE Chennai is an active chapter with over 90 Charter Members and 300 Associate Members. The chapter is focused on inspiring, educating and mentoring entrepreneurs in Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
  • 10. TiE CHENNAI’s regular activities: • My Story Sessions: A monthly event conducted for members of TiE, wherein established entrepreneurs talk about their experiences while as a start up and how they progressed through their journey in various stages. • Coffee with Chartter Member: A monthly event that focuses on one-on-one meetings. Charter Members meet with startups and Associate Members to advice and mentor these entrepreneurs on key areas of their businesses. • Mentoring Workshops: Mentors are enlisted from among the Charter Members and Mentees are from Associate Members or other budding entrepreneurs. Mentoring helps develop leadership skills and knowledge skills in mentees. TiE Chennai also launched Remote Mentoring for members, to leverage global pool of Mentors • Venture Capital Events: Signature events that happen every quarter for members that focuses on meeting new VCs and Angel Investors. Various topics like preparing a business plan, importance of a core team, readiness to attract capital at various stages of the business, etc. are covered.

TiE CHENNAI’s regular activities: • Associate Member Networking : A monthly event focusing on members meeting each other in a common platform to discuss their business domains and spend time networking with new members. • Business Plan Competition: LIBA-TIE Chennai Business Plan Competition. In 2009, this competition attracted over 200 business plans • Partnered Events: TiE Chennai partners with other entities, such as Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Great Lakes Institute of Management, NEN, IIT and Microsoft Bizspark, to conduct special events for entrepreneurs. • Monthly Featured Events: feature guest speakers and/ or panels on a variety of subjects (e.g. Microfinance, Doing business in Israel), open to Charter Members, Associate Members and guests.
