1. Generosity Movement Inc. Helping Christians Worldwide to discover and apply the Biblical message of generosity 1
2. Scripture For God so loved the world he GAVE For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy….but store up treasures in heaven. The Lord Jesus himself said, “it is more blessed to give than receive” 2
3. What biblical Generosity is… Generosity is an integral part of the Gospel God has provided all the resources to do all He desires to do We are called to be stewards – God does not need our money or efforts, but He generously wants to include us in His work Generosity is at the heart of discipleship and draws us closer to God Real Generosity is a complete heart change that results in “experiencing life that is truly life” God is more interested in the HEART of the believer than He is in the POCKETBOOK To live Generously requires a life of faith and dependence upon God…God then takes what little we have and leverages it God is glorified when we give sacrificially 3
4. Why a Generosity Movement? Times of great growth in the church are accompanied by significant movements of prayer and generosity Emperor Julian in bemoaning the rise of Christianity and the radical generosity of the early, rapidly growing church. “they support their poor in addition to our own” With Christian giving at 2.4%, and against a backdrop of 1,700 Bible verses on stewardship, we have a discipleship problem 4
5. Why a Generosity Movement? God is not glorified, people are not fulfilled and the gospel is not proclaimed when His people are “being made rich in every way,” but not “generous on every occasion.” (2 Cor. 9:11) Our culture of consumerism has infiltrated the church and crippled Christ-followers’ ability to give and be generous 5
6. Vision It’s 2025: Christ followers have been transformed in their faith as they understand why to give from the transforming Biblical message of generosity from their discipleship in school, through para-church ministries, through pop culture and from the pulpit. Christians understand the principles of how to give in such a way that their helping does not do harm to the giver or the recipient. Christ followers have a multitude of options to personalize where they give and use their skills, entering in to relationships with their “neighbors” around the world through travel, virtual gaming type experiences, giving portals and multimedia. Christ followers are so engaged in their giving that the blessing that flows in both directions blurs the line between giving and receiving. All are giving and receiving. The Gospel is brought to the ends of the earth, Widows and Orphans are Cared for, Christians are known for their radical generosity that is demonstrably different from the rest of society and the Church grows rapidly (just as in the days of the early Church All of this is done in a way that is a testament to the wonderful first gift of God that inspires believers and non-believers alike as it brings glory to the One who gave first. 6
