of the Skills for Aircraft
Maintenance License

For The Training of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
As per EASA Part 66 and 147

Training for DCAM Part 66
License involves
The path to get the license
   Part 66 EASA states the requirements
    for application of AML through ATO
    (approved training school)
    a. Evidence of knowledge module and
       English
    b. Evidence of competency in practical skills
       certified by a Validator;
    c. Evidence of practical assessments in
       aircraft maintenance experience certified
       by a Practical Assessor
Both b and c require certification by
  assessors.
About the aircraft experiences
 Two (2) years of practical
  maintenance experience on operating
  aircraft and completion of an
  appropriately approved basic training
  course.
 For all applicants, at least one (1) year
  of the required experience must be
  recent maintenance experience on
  aircraft of the category/subcategory
About The Assessors
   CAA document 46 states the
    requirements
    ◦   Can be part time or full time
    ◦   Understand Part 66 and 147
    ◦   Listed in the MTOE/ limitation to be stated
    ◦   Can be a trainer or examiner
    ◦   You can have chief assessor registered
        with CAA
Who can be an Assessor
 A license holder, had completed
  instructors training and assessor
  training OR
 Hold a responsible position in a 145
  organisation. OR
 A person nominated by 147
  organisation and can demonstrate
  experience and skills
About Documents and
Records
 All documentation used in the
  assessments to be approved by CAA.
 CAA logbook as per CAP 741 is an
  approved documentation.
An approved schools are
Required to…
 ◦   Have sufficient staff to do the work
 ◦    to plan the training and assessment.
 ◦   perform knowledge and practical training,
 ◦   conduct knowledge examinations and
     practical assessments
Basic Practical Training and
Validation
a.   The practical training element shall cover the practical use of
     common tooling/equipment, the disassembly/assembly of a
     representative selection of aircraft parts and the participation in
     representative maintenance activities being carried out relevant to
     the particular modules such as Modules 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
     and 17.

b.   The skills and experiences acquired by the trainees at the ATO or
     maintenance organisation shall be validated by a Validator.

c.   Basic practical validation shall be carried out during the basic
     maintenance training course by the Validators at the completion of
     each visit period to the practical workshops/maintenance facility.

d.   The evidence of validation shall be documented using a document
     approved by CAA.
Basic Practical Assessment shall
be..
a.   conducted by an approved practical
     assessor and carried out in a manner
     that is acceptable to CAA; and
b.   View the evidence of skill and
     experience acquisition and determine
     whether the student is competent at
     using tools and equipment and
     working in accordance with
     maintenance manuals. The student
     shall also be assessed on their
     situational awareness ability.
