Who’ runs

Ben tamblyn
Ben brings almost 10 years experience as a youth worker
and experiential program designer. His passion for travel
and experiential education dates back to a childhood
filled with road trips around Europe and years in the
Himalaya.

Ben spent a year in Nepal whilst completing his BSc in
Sociology and Social Anthropology; living in a mixture of
monasteries and refugee camps. He earned a British
Economic and Social Research Council Fellowship for post
graduate research. He completed his MSc in Medical
Anthropology (Distinction) in 2002.

Ben has dedicated himself to the design and implement-
ation of experiential education travel adventures and
leadership programs for youth. Ben ran an accredited
Himalayan Studies semester program that took participants
on a profound journey through Nepal, India and Tibet. Ben
spent hundreds of hours in remote wilderness settings,
facilitating treks, service work and home stays.

Ben has been the Youth Services Coordinator in British
Columbia, Canada, where he developed a highly
acclaimed leadership program including an annual
expedition to Himalayan India for local teens.

Ben now lives in Bali and is Program Director of Green
Camp
Jaime woodall
Jamie holds a BA in Psychology and is a CATT-certified
Orton Gillingham Theraputic Tutor. She taught for four
years at Fraser Academy (Vancouver), a school for
students with Dyslexia and other learning styles. Her work
in this field fueled her enthusiasm for helping students to
recognize their learning styles/needs, and become
better self-advocates, harnessing their natural strengths.
Jamie undertook a grueling cycle expedition through
Nepal, Tibet and Pakistan. Her time in the Himalaya
included work with orphanages, an intensive language
program at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan University and a two-
year apprenticeship with a Master Tibetan thangka
painter.
She has worked with a leading educational travel
company as a Program and Admissions Director. Jamie
also instructed summer and semester programs, loving the
opportunity to work with students in the field.
She strives to facilitate experiences that are safe, fun,
profound and enduring. She is passionate about creating
programs that inspire young adults to become deeply
engaged in their personal growth, and recognize their
important role in the global community.
Jaime now lives in Bali and is Admissions Director of
Green Camp
Ronald stones o.b.e.
Green Camp is part of Green School. Ron is the Director of
Green School.
He was previously with the Sampoerna Foundation as Education
Adviser and on the Board of Directors, responsible for its school
quality improvement programs in Indonesia.
He has held three chief executive / principal positions in South-
East Asia over a 24 year span: British School, Manila (during the
political uprising in the 80s); British International School, Jakarta
(developing a new facility from scratch & doubling the
enrolment to 800 students while extending from primary to ages
3 to 18); Tanglin Trust School, Singapore (developing a 1,000
student primary school into a 2,000 student 3 to 18 school).
He was awarded MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in 1994 for
Services to Education, and promoted to OBE in 2004. He has
been appointed to a number of honorary positions, including
Visiting Professor with the Institute of Education, University of
Warwick, and Ambassador at Large with Larasati Art.
He gives to Green School a wealth of experience in education
and in educational leadership, but he is brings a passion about
the development of young people into responsible and caring
citizens.
Overview for teachers
Green Camp for Schools workshops are available year-
round for school groups looking to combine practical skills
with creative thinking in an inspirational environment.
The Green School / Green Camp site is the ideal setting in
which to study sustainable design and technology, as it
models innovative, contemporary design using traditional
and environmentally responsible methods.
Every GCS project involves the design and hands-on
construction of products and systems that meet human
needs, created using renewable and/or recycled
materials. Students learn methods & techniques that
improve quality of life, solve problems and enhance
personal leadership skills.
Every project is presented as a challenge with numerous
possible learning outcomes and solutions. Students work
alongside Green Camp mentors, who encourage the
development of ideas and systems that challenge
convention and empower students. The result is the
development of practical and intellectual skills along with
a greater understanding of relevant cultural, socio-
economic and environmental issues.
Gaining confidence in the process, students make new
links; discovering possibilities, finding solutions to problems
and visualising “can do” alternatives.
custom made courses to fit your needs
Green Camp for Schools
customizes open-ended GCS
challenges according to the
needs, goals and aspirations of
individual groups.

Projects will be designed and
facilitated in an age
appropriate way and with
special attention to the
background and experience
of the students participating.

Costs depend on content and
attendance. Budget on US $75
to US$ 100 per student per
night

The Green School / Green Camp site is the ideal setting in which to study sustainable design and technology, as it models innovative, contemporary design using traditional and environmentally responsible methods. Every GCS project involves the design and hands-on construction of products and systems that meet human needs, created using renewable and/or recycled materials. Students learn methods & techniques that improve quality of life, solve problems and enhance personal leadership skills. Every project is presented as a challenge with numerous possible learning outcomes and solutions. Students work alongside Green Camp mentors, who encourage the development of ideas and systems that challenge convention and empower students.
