The document summarizes research conducted on the attitudes of future teachers towards teacher autonomy. It involved a survey of 108 future teachers with open-ended questions. Their responses showed that they see a successful teacher as knowledgeable, creative, and always developing themselves. They see teacher autonomy as being able to self-assess, develop skills, and make choices about their own teaching. Most felt teacher autonomy was important for being able to solve classroom problems and keep up with innovations. However, as trainees they do not feel fully autonomous yet and believe they need more opportunities to practice teaching.
