Could use darker colours
such as the base colour
being black, making it more

The colours could be mainly
whites and silvers, giving
the product a more modern
and futuristic feel?

Stick to the current Irn-Bru
house style:
Blue/orange/silver/white?
Traditional old colours such
as reds and yellows could
be used to make the
product more eyecatching?
PACKAGING IDEA 1

IRN-BRU






The colour scheme would be the same house style as the current Irn-Bru product, however
the colours will be less bold and more muted and based on a white/silver background.
The over all design will have a modern and futuristic twist, with the fonts being slimmer and
sleeker than those in the original product and the logo would be similar to the one within
this mood board, however I could change the colouring and add more detail to the image.
I think that this particular idea will be attractive to current and potential Irn-Bru customers
because the design will be very modern and moving on with the times, and people naturally
want new looking products.
PACKAGING IDEA 2

(THE CLASSY DOTS)

(ROADWAY)







The colours could be darker than usual, giving the product a more sophisticated look, which
would appeal to a wider audience.
I could used black as the main base colour, and incorporate Irn-Bru’s signature colours;
orange and blue, however the over all tone of the colours will be dark.
I could produce a brand new logo which would be similar to the previous one in order to
ensure that the product will be identified by their target audience, the logo will be based on
the usual ‘iron man’ logo however would be more sophisticated in order to fit in with the look
of the rest of the product.
The fonts will be more stylised detailed, however will still be quite simple in order for the
copy to be legible to a wide range of people.
PACKAGING IDEA 3



I could create a plastic bottle of Irn-Bru. The bottle would be clear so you could see the brightly
coloured drink within it, automatically giving the packaging its own bright orange background.



The actual label of the bottle would be clear plastic with copy and images printed upon it.



The colour scheme for this idea will be bright and bold colours, the feel of the product will be happy
and full of energy – promoting the fact that the product is an energy drink. I like the bubble effect on
the 7up bottle and Summer labels, I may decide to incorporate this into my own design



The fonts could have a simplistic look to them, making the product seem very up-beat. Having the
fonts this simple will also make the product more appealing perhaps to a younger audience and a
wider range of people.
•

•
•

Bold

Making the colours bold
and eye-catching will
ensure that the advert will
be noticed and attract the
appropriate target audiance

•
•

Stick to the current Irn-Bru
house style:
Blue/orange/silver/white?
Traditional old colours such
as reds and yellows could
be used to make the
product more eyecatching?
ADVERT IDEA 1




I could produce a
full page magazine
advert for a can of
Irn-Bru
The tone and
general design of
the advert will be
sophisticated in a
humorous way –
almost making fun
of other
sophisticated
adverts and
keeping the
humorous style of
Irn-Bru.





The main image could be of the drink being poured into the
glass (like the one featured in this mood board) with a large tag
line and there will be information for the website
address/twitter/facebook included in the footer of the
advertisement.
My designed product packaging will be clearly visible.
ADVERT IDEA 2






I could create a point of sale display stand for
the Irn-Bru product which I decide to produce.
This will be made of cardboard and will have a
mix of images and text on all sides of the unit
with the ratio being image heavy. However the
text which will be used will be in a font which is
bold and easily legible.
Depending on which product I decide to create
will have an impact on the details of the colour
scheme of this unit, but I could use the
traditional Irn-Bru colours, however will also
have a slight addition or alteration in order to
make the product look slightly fresh and new
without losing the products already well known
reputation.
ADVERT IDEA 3






For an Irn-Bru website banner the
colours I will use will be very bold
and very eye-catching as this will be
the first piece of advertising that the
audience will see once they have
clicked onto the website.
There will be slightly more text to
image proportions because a
website header is quite small and a
good amount of information must be
put across in one image.
I may decide to take my own
photographs for this advertising
material – for example I could take a
photograph of someone drinking a
can of Irn-Bru and have a clear tag
line to positively anchor the image.
ADVERT IDEA 4




I could create a poster
advertising the new IrnBru 32, and design it in
a similar way following
the house style in order
for the audience to be
able to identify the
drink.
The poster will have an
image that I have taken
myself of the drink, or
could simply just have
a new logo for the
product which I could
create myself within
Photoshop. The poster
could be advertising the
new drink by
introducing the brand
new logo/design.



There will be a large, memorable, humorous tag line attached to the poster



The correct addresses for the facebook/twitter/web page will be available on the
poster



The poster could be of a similar design to my other design for a magazine advert.








ADVERT IDEA 5

A good form of advertising is being able to
partner up with or sponsor another product or
business.
I could organize a competition involving IrnBru 32 and another product which will be
attractive to the same target audience in order
to attract a larger audience and another group
of potential customers who will be attracted to
the product which is the ‘prize’
The prize product should be something that
Irn-Bru’s audience will specifically be
interested in, this is why it will be very
important that I know exactly who the target
audience is that I will be attracting.
The colours will be in the usual Irn-Bru style
of orange/blue/silver/white.
