2. Our Idea
The protagonist is a average teenage boy facing the
fear of rejection. He feels that he is already rejected
by his friends and is afraid of being haunted by that
feeling in the present and future. He is then
transported, which can be interpreted as a dream
or as a memory, to an open, isolated park with his
friends. The video shows how he copes and feels
about rejection, portraying his emotions about
opening the letter and leaving his friends.
We feel that this idea will be highly relatable for our
target audience.
5. Story Board
One of our original storyboards, but since the
idea has changed.
6. Changes
• We have changed from our original idea which in
retrospect wasn’t suited to the songs genre. It was to
fictional and didn’t reflect the natural of the song.
• We have also changes this idea a lot as well but we are
now, happy with the overall storyline and hope that it
will make a great music video. For example, originally
his friends weren’t actually going to be there.
• Our cast has also changed a lot. We originally was
going to have a different lead actor but have decided to
have carl play the protagonist.
7. SWOT
Strengths
Relatable idea for our target audience
Our idea reflects to the songs genre and message
We are creating a theme and atmosphere around nature which links with songs title as well as the lyrics of he song.
“Climbing trees like we did when we were children”. This will add authenticity to our music video.
Weaknesses
We have wasted a lot of our time with discussing the idea and overcomplicating the idea, this meant that we have had to
redo a lot of our work
The idea we have will be difficult to explain in full, so we will need to rely on the acting ability of our cast to present our
message. If done badly then he audience will be left confused and not entertained
The quality of our lighting relies on the weather. If we had a rainy/dark day. Our lighting will not have the effect we want.
Opportunities
We have an opportunity to show our creative talents, reinterpreting the song and making it appealing to out target audience
We have an opportunity to gain new experiences and skills that may help us in the future
We have the opportunity to degrade the quality of the artists music, if we represent it badly
Threats
The weather may be a threat to our music video, as it will affect the quality of our lighting and whether we can create the
effect we want it to, it may even lead to the audience misinterpreting the feelings of the character/s. if it rains it will also
ruin our equipment and props.
Another threat would be the ability of the actors. We are most worried that the actors wont be good at lip syncing or playing
instruments. This will give our video an overwhelmingly amateur look which wont appeal to our target audience, or is
something that we want to happen.
As our video relies heavily on the actors, if they are not very co-operative or reliable, it will have a dramatic effect on out
production
