2. FINAL CUT PRO
Final Cut Pro was used majorly in the production of our media product. It
is an editing software for Apple Macs, which allowed us to do all of the
editing for our film.
None of us knew how to use the software at first, so we each played
around with the different applications, and then watched a few tutorials on
YouTube, which helped greatly. The website
http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial was on of the most
helpful things we found as it allowed us to grasp as greater understanding
of Final Cut Pro and helped us to produce our final construction.
3. CONVERGENT TECHNOLOGY
Convergent technology referrers to a piece of technology which has
more than one use (eg. A mobile phone is used to call and text others,
but (usually) also can be used as a camera, and as a means of accessing
the internet, and even more things with different apps.)
The internet allowed us to access all kinds of tutorials and helpful
information from different media platforms such as YouTube. We also
used YouTube to research into existing media products so we could find
out what to include (and not include) within our piece.
Mobile phones were also used to help in the process of our piece, for
example our focus group was created and accessed using a mobile phone.
They also allowed us to keep in contact with each other as well as our
focus group, whenever and wherever.
4. CAMERAS
To film our media product, we used two different cameras. The main
camera we used was the Cannon D600 with a Tamron lens, which was a
good mix as we found we didn’t need a particularly quick lens due to none
of our shots including a lot of movement.
In order to use the camera to the best of it’s abilities, we found tutorials
online which helped us understand the functions of the camera properly.
Although, of course we learnt a lot through the trail and error process
when we tested out certain shots prior to our final filming process.
We also used the Panasonic Lumiz DMC-SX8EB-K because we wanted to
include a few extreme close up shots and found the Tamron lens’ quality
for these shots wasn’t high enough, so decided to use the Lumix.
