about past events.
2. The simple past: Was and Were
We use this tense when you want
to talk about something at a
definite time in the past:
yesterday, last night in 2006 .
The past simple of be is "was" or
"were": the form depends on the
subject as it is almost always the
case
English has two types of verbs in the
past
-Regular
-Irregular
Affirmative sentence
To make affirmative sentence with the verb to be in
this tense you have only to use: was or were
Negative sentences
To make negative sentences with the verb to be in this
tense you have to use:
was+not (wasn´t) or
were+not (weren´t)

12. DEATH
Ford suffered his first heart attack in 1938, after
which he gave the address of his company to his
son Edsel, after the latter's death in 1943, Henry
Ford came out of retirement. However, with an
already deteriorating health, ceded the
presidency to his grandson, Henry Ford II in
September 1945, and retired completely.
He died in 1947 of a cerebral hemorrhage at age
83 in Fair Lane, and is buried in the Ford Cemetery
in Detroit.

ATMOSPHERE IN WHICH HE HAD BEEN BORN 83
YEARS EARLIER, WITH THE LIGHTING OF CANDLES.
