2. Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
3. Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
(opening prayer)
4. Let us greet one another in the name of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
5. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good
deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as
some are in the habit of doing, but
encouraging one another—and all the more
as you see the Day approaching.
6. Our theme (loosely) will be Serving
Serving others
Family, friends
Acquaintances, coworkers
People we don’t know
Enemies .
7. “Everybody can be great...because anybody
can serve. You don't have to have a college
degree to serve. You don't have to make your
subject and verb agree to serve. You only
need a heart full of grace. A soul generated
by love.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today’s topic: Community
8. The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’
teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of
bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled
with awe at the many wonders and signs
performed by the apostles.44 All the believers
were together and had everything in
common.
9. 45 They sold property and possessions to give
to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they
continued to meet together in the temple
courts. They broke bread in their homes and
ate together with glad and sincere
hearts,47 praising God and enjoying the favor
of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being
saved.
10. You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You are
You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are
11. There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this
city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this
city
12. You're the God of this city

(x2)
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this
city

15. Romans 12:3-8
Humble Service in the Body of Christ
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one
of you: Do not think of yourself more highly
than you ought, but rather think of yourself
with sober judgment, in accordance with the
faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For
just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have
the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though
many, form one body, and each member
belongs to all the others.
16. 6 We have different gifts, according to the
grace given to each of us. If your gift is
prophesying, then prophesy in accordance
with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve;
if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to
encourage, then give encouragement; if it is
giving, then give generously; if it is to
lead, do it diligently; if it is to show
mercy, do it cheerfully.
17. Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil;
cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one
another in love. Honor one another above
yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but
keep your spiritual fervor, serving the
Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in
affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the
Lord’s people who are in need. Practice
hospitality.
18. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and
do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who
rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live
in harmony with one another. Do not be
proud, but be willing to associate with
people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful
to do what is right in the eyes of
everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it
depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
19. What does community mean to you?
How does your daily life community compare
with the concept of Christian community?
What are the disadvantages of community?
What are the benefits?
What are the responsibilities?
Who is in your community?...
20. The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood
up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what
must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he
replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your strength and with all your mind’; and,
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
21. 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus
replied. “Do this and you will live.”
29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he
asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down
from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was
attacked by robbers. They stripped him of
his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving
him half dead.
22. 31 Apriest happened to be going down the
same road, and when he saw the man, he
passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a
Levite, when he came to the place and saw
him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a
Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the
man was; and when he saw him, he took pity
on him.34 He went to him and bandaged his
wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put
the man on his own donkey, brought him to
an inn and took care of him.
23. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and
gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’
he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse
you for any extra expense you may have.’
36 “Which of these three do you think was a
neighbor to the man who fell into the hands
of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who
had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
24. Jesus basically says that anyone you ever
come across is a part of your community.
Even enemies—which a lot of people neglect
in this parable.
How hard is it to include people in your
community that you don’t like?
Enemies? .
25. Separated until the veil was torn
The moment that hope was born
and guilt was pardoned once and for all
Captivated but no longer bound by chains

the sinner and the sacred resolved

praise the son and the spirit in one
28. and all of creation sing with me now

the spirit in one .
29. Galatians 6:2
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way
you will fulfill the law of Christ.
30. 9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep
warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

35. It's the song of the redeemed
Rising from the African plain
It's the song of the forgiven
Drowning out the Amazon rain
The song of Asian believers
Filled with God's holy fire
It's every tribe, every tongue, every nation
A love song born of a grateful choir
36. It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns, He reigns
It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns, He reigns
Let it rise about the four winds
Caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals
To the faithful gathered underground
Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation
Some were meant to persist
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples
None rings truer than this
37. It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It's all God's children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
38. And all the powers of darkness
Tremble at what they've just heard
Cause all the powers of darkness
Can't drown out a single word
When all God's children sing out
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
All God's people singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns .
