the Indo-European languages
family, originating in Ireland
and historically spoken by the
Irish people. Irish is spoken as
a first language by a small
minority of Irish people, and as
a second language by a rather
larger group. Irish enjoys
constitutional status as the
national and first official
language of the Republic of
Ireland.
Irlandès (gaèlic) és un llenguatge de la
família de llengües indoeuropees, originari
d'Irlanda i històricament parlada pel poble
irlandès. L'irlandès es parla com a primera
llengua per una petita minoria de la població
irlandesa, i com a segona llengua per un grup
bastant gran. Irlandès gaudeix de rang
constitucional com la llengua oficial nacional
i primer de la República d'Irlanda
English was first brought to Ireland during the
Norman invasion of Ireland in the late 12th
century. England was unable to control the
country, and English was only spoken by a small
minority of people inhabiting an area known as the
Pale around Dublin. It was first introduced into
Ireland on a wide scale during the Plantations of
Ireland and the implementation of the subsequent
Penal Laws. Nevertheless, it is only since the early-
to-mid 19th century that English has been the
majority language in Ireland;[4] indeed, the
subsequent English spoken in Ireland has been
greatly influenced by the interaction between the
English and Irish languages

del segle XXII. Anglaterra no va ser capaç de controlar el país, i només anglès és

SOBRE CATALÀ
Fa referència als canvis en
l’estructura d’una llengua
ocasionats per la influència
d’una altra llengua. Les
llengües en contacte
s’influeixen mútuament,
sobretot a nivell lèxic; però, en
una situació de conflicte
lingüístic -com el cas del català
i el castellà- és la llengua
dominant (el castellà) la que
interfereix quasi exclusivament
la llengua dominada (el català),
que pot acabar
significativament
transformada. Segons el

BARBARISMES mots d’una altra llengua
que són usats en lloc dels mots que la
llengua pròpia ja té per designar els
mateixos conceptes. Així doncs, la paraula

MANLLEUS són mots que passen d’una
llengua a una altra i s’integren en la llengua
que els rep perquè aquesta no té cap mot
propi per designar un determinat concepte,
la paraula càmping n’és un.
