- Bristish debt increased


     colonist must pay: INCREASE IN TAXES:

                 - Sugar Act (1764)

BOSTON TEA PARTY 1773
SURPLUS of tea in India

                TAX for the sale of american tea
INTOLERABLE ACTS or COERCIVE ACTS
              1774

• British troops could lodge in private homes.

• The goverment of Massachusetts stayed under
  the british control.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
• Colonies were no longer a part of GB.

• Declaration of rights

  ▫ “all men are created equals”

  ▫ “they are endowed by their Creator with certain
    unalienable rights, that among these are LIFE,
    LIBERTY and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS”
END OF THE WAR:
           TREATY OF PARIS, 1785

• British goverment recognized the Independence.
UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION 1787
• It is the same constitution since then, with some
  changes (AMENDMENTS).

We the People  of the United States, in Order to 
 form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, 
 insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the 
 common defence, promote the general Welfare, 
 and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves 
 and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this 
 Constitution for the United States of America.

• JUDICIAL BRANCH
EXECUTIVE: PRESIDENT OF THE US
 Is the Commander in chief
  Makes treaties with other
   nations

 - Recommends legislation to
   Congress.

 - Approves laws passed by
   Congress.

 - "Take care that the laws be
   faithfully executed"
