The University of California, Santa Cruz obtained the Grateful Dead archive after a professor who taught a music course on the band learned of the need for it to have a permanent home. The archive is a treasure trove containing over 600 linear feet of materials such as posters, tickets, recordings, correspondence, furniture, and stage props. The vision for the archive is to digitize its contents to make them accessible and searchable online as well as housed at the university's library, creating a "Virtual Terrapin Station." Donations are requested to help make the archive's treasures accessible to fans and scholars worldwide.
