Cultural Experience Offers wide variety of skillfully crafted handicrafts and diverse Indian artifacts & a variety of food served in an Eco friendly manner. Customers might find almost same things every time they go there, but their experience will always be new and different.
Indian Habitat Center India Habitat Centre (IHC) has been conceived as an ideal physical environment with a range of facilities, that would maximize the effectiveness of the individuals and institutions, in their holistic support of the habitat. The principal resolve of the Centre - "to restore at every level - environment and ecological - a balanced, harmonious and improved way of life," is reflected in its concept and design. It incorporates innovative new technologies in building management systems, conference systems, communication and energy conservation, creating probably the most intelligent building in the country.
IMAGE: IHC has a very intellectual image Its a "ONE STOP FOR KNOWLEDGE and FUN". Its a refreshing place with all the positive ( towards the environment and society) aimed entities coming together to sensitize others. Indian Habitat Center
CROWD: The crowd is the general public, diplomats, artists, foreigners, which is basically there to move around or maybe even for study purpose, business purpose, or for entertainment purpose. Indian Habitat Center
CUSTOMERS: IHC customers are the crème of the society. it includes high end people like, ISO officers, Politicians, Diplomats, NGO's, etc. Basically the membership is open to all but it was closed in the year of 2000.The reason is : Flood of Members. Current Members: 8000. Corporate members: 300 Individual members: 7700 Indian Habitat Center
The members have to go through an approval committee. The corporate members have to pay 15 lacks per annum. the corporates are issued with 10 cards, which can be used by 10 different individuals under the name of the respective corporate house. The individual members have to pay 15 thousand per annum. The customers are allowed to use facilities which are not open to public. for example, certain restaurants are open specifically to the members. The IHC library is accessible by only members. Fitness centres, internet access and rooms are available to them exclusively. Indian Habitat Center
LOCATION: Its been built in a central location in Delhi: LODHI ROAD. it is surrounded by areas like: Jor Bagh : Entrepreneurs reside in the area (it is considered one amongst the posh areas of the Capital). Lodhi Colony : Government officials reside mostly. Defense colony and Khan market : surrounded by university and IILM. thus, this place becomes a hub for students to hang out. Indian Habitat Center
AMBIENCE: The ambience created is very natural with lots of greenery . It is supported by giving fire red and yellow colored bricks which are out in small lines to merge with the buildings constructed inside the Center. It's a well blended example of various materials and colors too, which unconsciously add to the purpose of making the environment more invitingly refreshing. It has blue glass panels which serve the role of semi-open roof, also serving as screen to direct sunlight. The floorings have circular patterns except for the inside areas of Offices and restaurants etc. Even the plants are cut or placed in geometric patterns. Indian Habitat Center
INTERACTION: Since the place provides with a platform for people to meet and exchange information, the interaction levels are high among the crowd. It's a center where you can directly interact with the second party. Also a lot of on the spot events, plays, exhibitions are held that it builds the feel of mingling with others and sharing information. Helps in learning and knowledge about sensitive issues for example, recently, in an exhibition IHC showcasing how technology is effectively used by physically challenged people. Indian Habitat Center
PROMOTION: Any current happening is advertised through Print media, to bring the events under notice of general public. One of the method of Self Promotion is that Representatives conduct surveys door to door, invite organizations, companies to visit them and if they appreciate the place they organize events there. Indian Habitat Center
HOSPITALITY: Parking is free. There are guards after every few miles. Also, its well connected; the signage system is so effectively done that a new visitor wont have to bother about getting lost. An information center is also there, and they are very co operative. The center is spread over a vast space but is maintained so well in hygiene sense, again maintaining the balance with environment. Indian Habitat Center
USP: According to the information center officials. To enable thinking and democratic exposure to issues and concerns of the marginalized sections of society, development, human rights and self-assertion. But for me, the space is the USP, as it provides with a large open place where one can meet, interact, exchange information and even hang around for hours and hours. In a place like Delhi, IHC provides with a free parking space, which all the more appeals people to come here. Indian Habitat Center
