Organization’s elevator speech Describe your organization’s social media maturity of practice prior to participation in Leveraging Social Media and how it has changed due to LSM? Give an overview of your strategy: What are the SMART objectives and Audiences Pick one SMART objective to explain in more detail Who is the target audience? Describe proposed social media engagement, content, tactics, and tools that you’ll use to reach this objective? How will results be measured? What are 1-3 big insights that you gained from participating in the LSM program? Please bring a hard-copy one-page summary (can be bullet points) of your presentation and copy on a word document on a USB. http://zoetica-training.wikispaces.com/How+To+Be+Prepared
16. Implementation Grant What is the size of this grant? Grants of $12,500 will be issued with $10,000 in direct funds to grantees and $2,500 dedicated to mentorship with a vetted consultant through Theatre Bay Area. Who is eligible for this grant? Eligible organizations must currently be enrolled in the Intermediate track of Leveraging Social Media (LSM). It is not a requirement that the same staff that participated in classes still be at the organization. However, continuity of knowledge will be taken into account and should be addressed in the application.
17. Implementation Grant What is required to apply for this grant? A strong application will assess the organization’s maturity of social media practice prior to participating in the LSM workshops, discuss how it has improved, and how they expect to further benefit by implementing social strategies. In addition, applicants are expected to detail the funded activities, expected outcomes, and requested time period (maximum of 12 months beginning January 1, 2012). Activities can include any social media platform, as long as the objectives and methods of measurement are clear and consistent. Proposed activities must be well-defined, measureable, and able to be benchmarked (if not completed) within the allotted time. Applicants will be asked to submit a final report one month after the grant period ends.
18. Implementation Grant What are eligible expenses that this grant can be used for? The $10,000 awarded directly to the granted organizations may be used to pay for staff time, hardware, software or supplemental consulting/independent contracting. The $2,500 allocated for contracting an arts, organizational, or social media consultant may only be used to pay for a specified number of hours of consultancy from that person. The grant can cover all or part of the expenses of the proposed project, but should the budget exceed the awarded amount, an explanation of how the remaining funds will be secured must be included in the application.
19. Implementation Grant When are applications available? Applications will be available September 19, 2011 via the San Francisco Foundation website. The application must be completed online. When must applications be completed? Completed applications must be submitted via the San Francisco Foundation’s website by 11:59 PM on October 20, 2011. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. How many grants are available? There are eleven grants available.
20. Implementation Grant On what criteria will applications be evaluated? Applications will be evaluated on how clear and realistic they are regarding the scale, structure, and funding of the proposed work. The most important consideration is how the organization absorbed and implemented the lessons learned during the LSM workshops, how well future steps will build on that work, and allow it to become a more networked arts nonprofit. While innovation is encouraged, greater weight will be given to proposals that have a high likelihood of truly benefiting and transforming the organization. Given that this grant will only be awarded once, applicants should carefully consider how to allocate the funds in such a way that programming will be able to continue even after the influx of funds has come and gone. It is recommended that participants focus on one objective versus spreading resources too thin. In addition, because the applicant pool is limited to previous participants in Leveraging Social Media, applicants will also be evaluated on their previous work in the program. Organizations that participated in the Beginner track in 2010 will also have their participation taken into consideration. Should applicants be concerned about any aspect of their experience in the Leveraging Social Media workshops, they should feel free to discuss those concerns within the application.
21. Implementation Grant If I have questions about the application, to whom should I speak? Questions regarding the content of your application can be directed to Clayton Lord at clay@theatrebayarea.org. No phone calls please. For questions regarding The San Francisco Foundation’s Grantee Center online application, please contact Kevin Seaman at kls@sff.org or (415) 733-8508.
22. Peer Assist What is left to do to complete your strategy? What questions to do you need to address during the coaching session to help you prepare for the presentation AND submit a strong application? What did your organization’s maturity of practice in social media look like before the program? How did it change? If you could only choose one objective to build your application request around, what would it be and why? *6 mute *7 unmute

On what criteria will applications be evaluated?Applications will be evaluated on how clear and realistic they are regarding the scale, structure and funding of the proposed experiment. Close attention will be paid to the design of the experiment and the nature and specificity of the benchmarks that will be used to evaluate the outcomes. While innovation is encouraged, the most important consideration will be whether the proposed experiment has a high likelihood of truly enlightening the organization about a particular aspect of social media. In addition, because the applicant pool is limited to previous participants in the LSM program, applications will be evaluated on what they learned from their previous experiences and experiments. Applicants are encouraged to discuss both successes and failures and will not be penalized for experiments that did not work but evaluated on the insights they gained from them.If I have questions about the application, to whom should I speak?Questions regarding the content of your application can be directed to Clayton Lord at clay@theatrebayarea.org.
