From the pre-questionnaire graphs, the main age group of respondents was 12-20 years old. There were more female respondents than male. Comedy was the most popular film genre followed by adventure and animation. Most respondents watch films once a week or more than once a week. After reading the synopsis, most felt the narrative was clear. The most popular potential film titles were "What If the Moon Was Made Out of Cheese?" and "The Crescent". While most felt the genre was clear from the script, some did not. Most would rate the film U (Universal) and some PG, with no higher ratings selected. Most respondents expressed interest in watching the film after reading the script and synopsis.
2. WHAT AGE CATEGORY DOYOU FALL
UNDER?
From the pre-questionnaire, I was able to
identify from the graphs that the main
age groups that people fell under were
between the ages of 12 to 20 years of
age. This is important to consider when
deciding who my target audience are
going to be and the socio-economic
groups that they fall under.
3. What is your gender?
From the pre-questionnaire, there were 3 males
and 7 females that answered the questions given
out. This is important in relation (again) to the
target audience and how the film will be relatable
to both males and females as their viewpoints
may differ throughout the questionnaire.
4. What film genre do you enjoy watching?
From the questionnaire, the most popular film genre was
‘Comedy’, following this was ‘Adventure’ then ‘Animation’
and finally ‘Thriller’. When creating and planning for my
animation, these aspects will play a significant role in deciding
what genre will be most dominant throughout my film.
5. how often do you watch films?
It is important to consider the amount of times a person
watches a film so that I can take this into consideration
when creating mine. Looking at the graphs shown, the
majority watch films ‘once a week’, following this is ‘more than
once a week’ and with the minimum watching it everyday. This
could imply that my film will need to be captivating in order to
intrigue my audience.
6. Do you feel that the narrative of my film is clear
after reading the synopsis?
The synopsis plays an important role as it
allows the audience to further their knowledge about
the film. From the graphs, you can see that 6 people
felt that the narrative of the film was clear after reading the
synopsis.
7. What name suits my film?
Out of the three options to choose from, the two most
popular names were: ‘What IfThe MoonWas Made Out
Of Cheese?’ and ‘The Crescent’. A reason behind this may
have been due to both titles relating well to the synopsis of
the film and sounding appealing in comparison to the third
name.
8. Was the genre of my film clear after reading
the script?
Majority of the responses for this question indicated that
the genre of my film was clear after reading the script
however, it is still important to consider that less than half
responded with ‘no’ which means that it will be important to
convey the genre clearly within my final film.
9. What certification would you give my film?
Majority of people rated the film : U (Universal) with a few
giving the film the rating PG. No one rated the film between
the 12 to 18 certification range: this is probably due to the
script not conforming to descriptions of these ratings and the
film itself not containing harmful material.
10. After reading both the script and synopsis, are you
intrigued to watch my film?
The final question from my pre-questionnaire asked whether
people were intrigued to watch my film after reading both the
script and synopsis and the outcome showed a positive result: 8
people were intrigued to watch my film yet 2 people weren’t. It
is important to keep the film intriguing too because of the result.
