1. Compare and Contrast on Ali Baba and
Aladdin

Have you ever heard of Aladdin or the story Ali Baba and
the forty thieves. Well these stories have many differences and
similarities. Also the propose of comparing the two is to learn
about Arabian folktales. I would also like to see which one i
personally liked the best.
In both stories there is one cave. The one in Aladdin is
much bigger than the one in Ali Baba though. They are both
filled with precious riches. These cave also include
carpets,silks,expensive items and valuable treasures.
Both charters(Ali Baba and Aladdin)are very poor and
kind.They live in a small town.But the reason why Ali Baba is
poor is because he married a poor woman,who cuts wood to
sell at a market.Aladdin is poor because he is a street rat or in
other words he does not have a home or food to eat. He has to
steal food from the the little shops in the small town.
These stories are both Arabian folktales. As I said
before Aladdin is taken place in a small town .As well as Ali
Baba.They are also near a kingdom. Ali Baba does not talk
much about the kingdom . Aladdin however is based on a
person in the kingdom.
The last similarity is that both the king's and Ali Baba's
daughter gets married.The kings daughter gets married to
Aladdin. Ali Baba's daughter (Morgiana)eventually gets
married to the son of Ali Baba. And the two daughters live
happily ever after. Also Jasmine has a pet tiger. But Morgiana
doesn't have any type of pet.
Now I will tell you four differences of Aladdin and Ali
Baba. The first one is there's forty thieve in Ali Baba. But there
is only one in Aladdin Javar. The thieves in Ali Baba have a
head chief.Javar wishes Genie for him to become the most

2. powerful genie of all. The head chief gets killed. Since Javar is
a genie he has everything that comes with a genie (cuffs
around his hands, has to grant a person three wishes, and is
stuffed inside a lamp until someone wants him out.).
In the stone cave in Ali Baba there's gem,silks,and
expensive carpets. But in Aladdin a lamp is only wanted. Also
Ali Baba is caught stealing when he finds his brother dead in
the cave and the thieves find the body gone. But Aladdin is let
in the sleeping tiger cave to find the lamp for a old man who
wants the lamp because he wanted three wishes from the
genie.
Also the cave in each story is different. The cave in
Aladdin is a tiger. The one in Ali Baba and the forty thieves is a
stone cave. the tiger cave much bigger than the one in Ali
Baba. Also the tiger cave can talk. The stone cave can open
and close to the words "Open Seame" and "Close Seame".
The last difference about the two is the thieves in Ali
Baba live in the cave. The one and only thieve in Aladdin is a
help to the king and lives in the castle. The thieves in Ali Baba
like to steal gems from people from the people in the village.
The thieve in the castle wants the lamp.
In conclusion I liked Ali Baba and the forty thieves
better than Aladdin because I thought it had better details. I
also liked learning more about Arabian folktales. They're very
interesting. I would like to learn even more about them in the
future. I would also like to read another or see another to
know more about them.
